Hi TY readers, Anyone out there install a rebuildable, gas filled shock off a 2002 SXViper (18.5") to the rear spot of a ProActive suspension? Bought one and installed it after last years riding season. Wondering what to expect. Thanks for reading.

A rubber band would have helped me...... The old one I took off had "ZERO" resistance in or out...............

My old one did not have much resistance either. Only 4000 miles on sled, but still 9 yrs old.A rubber band would have helped me...... The old one I took off had "ZERO" resistance in or out...............![]()

I think it's gas.. Yes it has the piggy back...My ride is more controlled, deals with big bumps better. My shock had 10,000 + miles on it. Can you say "TIRED" MM.

I guess it depend on the ride quality you are used to or want. My feelings about this skid are well documented.

You installed a coil over rear sx viper shock in an 05 vector? Did you remove the torsion springs? Interesting idea. Never would have thought to try a coil over shock in that skid.

No. Still have the torsion springs. Took the coil spring off. Not enough room for the coil spring. I wanted to use the coil but no room. I'm hoping the rebuilt gas filled shock helps. May have to decrease the torsion spring tension, since the new one is gas filled. You installed a coil over rear sx viper shock in an 05 vector? Did you remove the torsion springs? Interesting idea. Our 2005 Vector, 3,500 miles and a gentle life, has a rear shock that went kaput over the summer. Replace with new, or were these rechargeable? Thanks guys.

They are not rechargeable. If you want to keep the same skid, IMO...reach out to barnofparts.com and see if he has a Nytro shock (rebuildable) available.
