2006 Jan Muni TY Ride - Still Going to Happen?

I don't know about Grand Marais...........apex_yooper & I ended up going to Seney instead on Tues. afternoon.........but Trail 8 up to where you turn for Grand Marais was O.K. A little rough from Shingleton to the Bear Trap but then it's always rough through the swamp there. It was real rough on the return. They definately have more snow then we do out that way.....not feet or so but several more inches. It's just that everything needs freshening up.

WE NEED SNOW!!!!!!! I may come up for powder ride if day etc is determined when this group will go out, but as for trail....I'm already having slide wear to the extreme this year and last. Buying expert 136 next week.

no snow no fun it was 38 in muni yesterday suppose to be the same today yahoo, all the trail traffic up there this weekend trails will be sht by the end of the day,suppose to get 1-3inches that wont help. 4 different events going on up there. grand marais 500 miler the ty ride newberry ice show the lake races, trails will be in great shape NOT!

It's not looking very promising here in Marquette...the snow went down big time last night due to the warm winds.

I am starting to have second thoughts about tomorrow...

I would still like to go, if for no other reason than to meet yourself, and other fellow TY'ers.

Maybe we will have to organize a back country ride, instead of sticking to the trails...there should be plenty of unplowed roads to ride south of Munising. May have to trailer a bit, but better than riding in the mud.

The diehards went out for a ride today. I stayed here at Alger Falls. Was up in the mid 40's yesterday afternoon, the plowed roads are getting thin or bare. Trails are dirty and rough, corners icy or bare. Lotsa snow in the woods, but snow is not that deep. Supposed to get colder tonight, if they get the groomers out to smooth things out before it freezes it would be okay, but really need a foot of new snow to be back to decent conditions.

Will see what the riders report today and update again tonight...

Hey guys, not coming up for the ride. If this is checked tonight by you guys at Alger, HELLO to all, I am going for a 4 wheeler ride tomorrow. I'll see you on the next ride with SNOW. I had reservation yesterday that I cancelled for this weekend and made it for next weekend up in Copper Harbor, I'm gonna hope they get a little more as well.
