2006 Jan Muni TY Ride - Still Going to Happen?

Just came home thru Munising this afternoon, and the snow/trails seem to be holding up pretty well. Didn't get near as warm as they predicted.

The trail in town was a bit brown, but those outside of town looked good (from what I could see from M-28).

Backcountry riding should be pretty good as there is a fairly hard, thick base with some fresh powder on top.

Thanks for the update yama-yooper

Sounds good!

A little different perspective from yama-yooper..........I went out Fri. evening to make the run up to the Buckhorn.......15 mi. each way........3 mi. up Trail 7 I said "Screw It!!!", came home and put it away. Wasn't worth the aggravation.

SO last night apex_yooper calls me when he got up here. I told him it was bad but he had to check for himself. Called me back about 2 hrs. later to say it wasn't too bad at all. PLUS I'm going with Yama_Doc in the groomer this morning, but that's south of us and over to the Jackpine.

Thursday's forecast is not looking good.........upper 30's with rain/drizzle/mix but Fri. into the weekend is supposed to cool down quite a bit.........high 20's with some snow or snow showers each day.

I'll give a more thorough update tomorrow evening. apex_yoop and I are supposed to go out tomorrow so we'll check some of the areas around town.

yep i never worry.remember one year we rode fri. and then sat. it rained all day like it was summer.then we sat and partied in the rec. room and then about 6 p.m it starts snowing and we got 10"s.we then rode to foggies for supper on the sleds.no matter what you cant go wrong coming up and getting together with the guys and girls.

Like I said: "It's Michigan" - If you don't like the weather, wait 10 min. LOL

I've been a real good boy, stayed home since last Sat. no riding, no wrenching... :exc: so it's about time to get out. See ya's there.

Rich I remeber that!!! That was fun!!!

Ended up riding south from here today..............down to US2 at Garden.....over to Cooks.....and then back to Camel Riders. 85 mi. total. Trails were passable to acceptable. Couple small water crossings on Trail 2 west of Cooks. Could be worse later in the week. Trail 7 from CR42 north, I ran the whole thing at 80 +...............late for my "grooming date" with Doc. 8) Then we re-groomed the southbound side.

We really need some snow but it's still rideable.
