2006 APEX RTX. 27,000 kms
Ran great till I rolled it over on left side of machine off a high sidewalk basically stopped . Few scuffs and broke screws on windshield.
Rolled it back over and fired it up and drove off bridge. Now it runs for about 40 seconds then shuts off. Yellow engine check light on, no codes.
It will not restart unless you key off then go to start will go 40 seconds then shut off.
Check oil level, good. Checked coolant levels good.
Check all fuses relays etc. Everthing seems good.
first time it will have to go to dealer if I cant figure out.
if no codes showing on dispay is it possible you can get into moniter to manually see a codes
When I refire , runs perfect idle and all the way to 10,600 rpm
Stumped. Was told these dont have a roll over valve
thanks

They will shut off without oil pressure. Verify circulation in the oil tank with a light and don't go above idle rpm until its sorted out.

most likely lost oil pump prime. I have had this happen many times in the past and it always sorted itself out sometimes it took longer than others. depends on the year but there may be a oil fill plug on the top of the motor that you could put just a cup of oil in to get it down into the dry sump to prime the pump otherwise there is a bleed screw on the motor to release the air lock to allow it to prime but is more work to get at.

just happened to mine 11 off of a snow bank this weekend. took 3 tries for it to prime on its own. i just let it idle for 10 seconds and sit for 2 min between starts until oil pressure light went out. at about same km too.

so dealer just called me. Said no oil pressure. Said not worth fixing engine has to come out, yada yada yada.
Machine was not running for more than 5 seconds on its side. Tipped over to left so pil tank was on topside so wouldn't have starved pump.
it sat over night same issue next day. Where is oil pressure switch located on engine ?
How should i try and prime ? I don't buy that oil pump chain broken or damaged.
Looking for ideas. Maube remove pressure switch and try and prime oil circuit with a pump ?
Put air pressure to oi tank and try and push oil to pump and remove air pocket
Never seen one of these apart before. Do you have t split case to access pump ?

that was the way mine was flipped. it took 3 tries with it running 5 seconds for it to pick up the prime once it was back on the level and i had made sure that the oil level was ok on the sled. there is a hose you can plug with your thumb to make it re prime faster but this is the 1st time it has happened to my sled and i forgot what hose. the mountain guys know it off of the top of their head as do most of the off trail guys.
that dealer is trying to charge you a bunch of money to basically reprime the sled.

There's a check valve in the oil pump. I've had issues from time to time on either oil changes or after I've had the engine out with repriming because the valve is shut and there's not enough negative pressure to open the valve. Putting the right ski on a block helps and as mentioned above 500ml of oil in the valve cover helps as well (just make sure you get the extra oil out when you're done). With the ski up the tank is higher than the pump and gravity is helping...

just an update. Tried all these fixes unsuccessful. Even hooked up an oil priming pig into oil gallery to prime block.
No luck on any of these.
Looks like the engine is coming out this summer. My guess maybe chain has come off the sprocket for oil pump drive when it fell over on its side

APEX NO OIL PRESSURE UPDATE
Pulled engine this week. Dropped pan. Found oil pump chain broken. Assuming with 27,000km it was stretched and came off sprocket when sled was on its side and jammed. When i re fired engine, it broke.
Inspected cam bearings, everything good. $18 chain, a few gaskets, o rings we should be good for another 27,000 km
Good thinh these things don't have to come out of chassis often. Took me 5.5 hrs to pull. lots of cplured tye wraps for marking wires, hoses etc
cheers

good man, let it rip another 27k. hard to believe the bearings take that. a lot of people say it takes seconds or less to do damage at high rpm. been wondering that myself. I know of a few 1200s that ran extended with the gear gone, no water or oil pumps. they put a gear on and head out.
