So I recently Purchased a 2007 FX Phazer for my son. like everything that you buy used there is an expectation of some issues. Well i had not quite anticipated what i was going to find when i removed the skid to service and rebuild the shocks. The sled only has 1800 miles but the suspension looks like it has been through the war. The rear pivot arm is broke, some of the idler wheels are warped and stuck and the shafts in both ends of the pivot arm are pretty well seized. What is the point of my endless whining? i am glad you asked. Since i am obviously going to have to replace these parts i am wondering if there are any suggestions for improvements. i noticed that Star Suspension does not have any mods for the Phazer, as i was hoping to find something of that nature. I have read some posts stating that a weak pivot arm was a common problem with this particular year so if there is a better alternative i would rather fix the problem with an update or aftermarket part if there is any available.

Thank you for any advice.

If it's salvageable I'd get it beefed up with some plates and welded. There are some great guys on this site and lot of them have parts barns and salvage sleds. You might want to put an ad in the classified wanted section or look up Laneo and hibshman25. They have chock full o parts!! Either that or talk to a Yamaha stealer. Good luck

I take it to mean the link and Pivot are shot in the rear suspension? Or do you mean the rear scissors? Pics would be nice. If its what I suspect(link and Pivot) I do have a brand new front arm I am not using for sale. You would still need the Pivot shaft and Aluminum link. This would update your suspension to new specs.

Cannondale - how much are you looking to get out of the Pivot arm? when you say updated are you saying that your pivot arm is the new 08 or newer update?

Schmidt Bros. Motorsports has an entire kit for $400 that will update everything or you can send your broken parts into them & they will reinforce them & price accordingly.

Take some pics first. Is other pricy items needed to update your suspension to 08 and newer specs. Want to make sure I have what you need.

Cannondale, thanks but I found the parts locally. Unfortunately it is not the new upgraded kit. just a replacement arm shaft and wheels to get me a season. Next offseason I will update if it proves worthy this year. I will update how she does. Thanks

Yamaha sells a complete kit to upgrade to 08 specs, was around 300 canadian. complete kit front arm, bolts, pivot link(aluminum) cross shafts and good wheels, not the one piece plastic crap

True Cannondale.
Where might I find this bargain in CA?
Having the spare parts @ that price are a smokin' deal.

When mine broke the dealer was looking around $600+ for the update kit, good thing for YES warranty but the new arm broke at a weld 2 seasons later.
Went to Ebay and found a 'new takeoff' 1st generation stock one for $65 and welded on 3/16" gussets to the corners/ seams then shaved down the W bracket some with a Bridgeport milling machine to fit in the mount tabs.
Had no problems in another 2 years.
