I just got the wifes sled out of storage over the weekend and I was wondering if I should change the oil and filter on it. She only put 150 miles on it last season.

Change the oil when you put it away for the summer do not let the Dirty Contaminated Corrosive Oil sit in the engine all summer and eat away. That being said with only 150 miles (since last change?) unless, the sled drew moisture I'd say it is ok ?

Ill probably go on ahead and change it. I want to switch her sled over to Klotz.

I swap out the oil at the end of every season.

What year is the phazer/total mialege?. If it is really the factory oil i would change it and put fresh yamaha oil since the first change should be done rather quickly, or another oil of your choice.

i agree with yamahas, to startout, what is the total mileage of sled or since the last oil change?
i'd leave it if you only put on 150 with fresh oil. if it hasn't been changed yet (still under 500miles for sled depending on year) then change it if it's an older model.

With less then 500 miles on my sled last year, i was very suprised to see how black it was when i drained it! I don't think my Raptor oil gets that dirty at 500 miles? Unless, the dealer that did my oil change last forgot something, like to change the oil!!!? I find that hard to believe though, they seem like pretty decent guys.

I'm greasing my upper idler wheels while still on the skid, yup, interesting, but i got a pretty good amount of grease in them and now they spin stiff, instead of rolling forever, dry. I took pics.
Back onto the oil.
I assume there is an oil change sticky or something, so i don't mess up adding oil? I'd hate to have something dry and fire it up. With a dry sump, it scares me a little. Plus, the oil that drained when i pulled my starter, and the fact that the oil hose on the bottom of the resevoir is slimey with oil and feels loose!
