Hi. I am new to the site and have tried searching for similar questions with no success.

Today my hand warmers and thumb warmer quit working. They are still registering on the guage and they adjusting properly with the switches however no heat. I have checked all the fuses and there isn't one specifically for the hand warmers. Does it operate by relay? Any help appreciated. :yam:

Are you having trouble with them heating up at idle or where you out riding?

I would start by checking fuses. Then check the continuity of the warmers and the switch (even if it is probably not the case since it registers on the gauge).

Hi.

there is no heat when at idle or while riding. In past they have worked very well and I have never had cold hands.

Just making sure, sometimes they don't warm up until the rpm's are brought up a little.

In that case I would start with fuses then the attached file to test the continuity.

Has there been any modifications made or is everything stock?

I have checked all fuses and they are good. Actually there is no fuse for the grip warmers - I am wondering if there is a relay or some other circut breaker.

grizztracks - the sled is bone stock.

The grips are powered through the ECU so there are no relays involved. Check wiring and connectors for corrosion and measure the grips resistance. If a heating element open circuits it should set a code. If the grip warmer circuit shorts it should blow the ignition fuse and the engine wouldn't run. The engine RPMs and brake light signal also affect the grips heat output through the ECU. Does the brake lights work properly?

Hello, I inspected the sled today after work. It appears that all connectors are free of corrosion. Its too cold and dark out to check the resistance at this time. I started the sled and ran it and increased rpm after warm up. I did feel some faint heat on the thumb warmer...

The brake light does work properly.

I have put the battery on charge thinking maybe the ecu is detecting low charge on the battery and preserving energy. I'm crossing my fingers my guess is right.
