2010 AK sled projects

Got a nice 50 mile deep pow break in ride today. Good combination of deep dry snow and hard pack trail. First, some pics of the finished product(minus the CF hood)

Timbersled kit - Aside from the play in the upper a-arms I'm pleased with the front end. It handled noticeably better on the trail than my stock front end. Hopefully it holds up to jumping.

Gripper skis - Very very happy. Easy to steer, way less darting than stock or C&A skis, and decent powder performance. For $200 for a set of new skis, I don't think they can beat.

K&N kit - I like the kit, but I put fine mesh screen over the holes in my hood and snow still iced up somewhat on the filters and caused a little drop in RPMs throughout the day. Replacing the mesh screen with pre-filter material will fix this 100%.

Cat skid - Could not be happier. I started out with 140 psi in the shock, limiters all the way out, and front track shock spring cranked about halfway and never adjusted a thing. Good ride on the trail and it climbed on top of the snow way better than I would have thought. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to put one under another Nytro.

I have a few small things to take care of but overall I'm extremely happy with how it turned out. The weight loss is very noticeable and it's ridiculously easy to throw around. I can't wait to get this thing in the air.

Nice work Nikoli!! Do you feel the need to add a fuel controller with the k&n and ehaust?

Where on earth did you find pow??

I would have to say that looks like Eureka, the hunting rig, the telephone poles. Just a guess, but willing to bet a ty4stroke hat on it.[/quote]

I think you would lose the hat on that bet.

If I loose, I will gladly order a hat for you. Unfortunately I am in Fairbanks till Tuesday(-35F). Otherwise I would phone a friend and verify. Still lots o fun.

What a freaking awesome build.

Nikolai,

Hope you have as much enjoyment from riding it as we did watching you build it. Two thumbs up.

Any chance of getting it weighed? It would be interesting to know how much of a diet you put it on.

Cheers

I tried to weigh it with three digital bathroom scales from walmart but I couldn't get them to read the same number twice. Using the heaviest readouts the sled is about 475 lb. dry which I think is accurate. I lost around 85 lbs which puts my stock Nytro dry at 560 and I think that's pretty close to what they really weighed.

There's still another 20+ lbs to lose in the future.

BTW, it was Eureka on the southside of the Rd. They're just messing with people on BCR.

WOW I friggin' love that thing! Nice work dude that sled looks awesome! ;)!

i wish i had your mad skills nikolai for that matter the tools to use those mad skills!!!!

Swelly looks like i owe you hat!! It is going to be a bowtie hat!!!
