2010 MN TY Ride

i'm out - i wrecked in wisconsin and broke my arm - had surgery yesterday but still pretty immobile at this point.

Good luck to you and a speedy recovery Wooly. I only made it 50 miles today, I manage to find a MAN HOLE COVER in the middle of a newly opened trail on my way to meet a few others. Obviously they haven't gotten around to marking all the hazards on this new trail from Gilbert to Biwabik. At least I only bent the A-arm that I previously repaired, and its now repaired again and ready to go for tomorrow.

Great ride guys.... 215 miles in one day :). Just wanted to say thanks to all of you who helped me on Bday and did not let my day go bad after my truck issues.

Hey is was nice meeting you guys. Tom, I was going to write that I'm glad to see you made it back OK, but I see you posted this on Sunday morning. Hope you got home OK.

Sorry to miss you guys Deerlodge, we were there for about 1/2 hour or so and didn't see any other Yamaha's in the lot, but I don't recall what the time was when we were there.

Nick, thanks for the use of the sled, too bad you you crashed your other one.

Dan, thanks for guiding and thank Chris too, maybe someday he'll see the light and get Yamaha. J/K!

To all, notice the custom trailing arm in the post above!

Friday resulted in one bent A-Arm and a snapped A-Arm bolt on Brandon's Phazer. He got it all whipped into shape for Saturday's ride. From the photo above, well let's jsut say it was Argentina vs. Minnesota, Minnesota (1) Argentina (0).

Then there was Mr. Sled's custom front end alignment with his truck. We'll give more information as the pictures surface.

It was great to meet all of you! Nick, glad you weren't hurt. If you guys are up in the area again, be sure to give me a heads up. If nothing else we can have a couple of bulldogs together!

Nick, all ribbing aside you, Andy, Brandon, and Tom are all class act guys. Nick, you sure do take a lot of @#%! with a smile. ;)!

I was able to get Tom on the road a little before 1:00pm. I'm waiting for pictures of his "trophy" to put on the website. Otherwise I still have the souvenir of what was left of his hub and rotor in my garage.

I'll be sure to thank Chris for you. He's just a great guy all around. Always willing to help.

Let's hope the second annual ride commences with a little less twisted metal.
:o|

I feel really bad we missed you guys. I was looking forward to meeting some more awesome TY members. Attached below are a few pictures of why we couldn't stick around. I don't know if anyone actually took a picture of his truck in the hotel parking lot, but Tom's suburban had the passenger side front tire tipped in at the top about 20 degrees. At first I thought he had a sheared off ball joint.

Needless to say Mr. Sled was a little nervous as he was in an area unfamiliar to him, and around here there are no shops open on weekends and nor car rentals within 80 miles. He was going to bail on the ride. We went out and looked to see what we thought was wrong with the truck. I made a couple of calls, and assuming a worst case scenario, local parts stores had everything on hand to rebuild the complete front end if necessary, and they opened at 9:00 Sunday morning. I told him we'll tow it out to my house that night and get him all fixed up and that we wouldn't leave him stranded. Fortunately, he decided to ride with us and we had a great ride.

I called for a rollback when we got back Saturday night and had the truck towed out to my house. I popped off the caliper and axle nut, grabbed the rotor and gave it 3 tugs, the bearing completly separated! Yes, that is supposed to be one of those unitized 1 piece bearings! Tom must have made it there on a blessing cause the only thing holding his front tire on was the caliper and CV shaft, and it doesn't take anything to separate one of those. The small thing to the right is the only semblance of a roller we found when we puled his front apart.

Anyhow, I hope you guys had a great trip. I'd love to hear all about it. Next time, I'll be sure to get one of your phone numbers so we can make sure there is no missed connection.
