2011 Apex Dyno #'s ?

Don't get caught up in hp number's or even hp to weight ratio, How they run in the field is what count's. The Z-1 cat with 170 hp should run away from an Apex but it does not, Mike Knap can attest to that. The Mach Z's should have killed the Apex but they are very close with the slight edge on top to the Z when they were running, The 800 R should have killed an Apex with there power to weight ratio but they are close with the Apex a touch stronger on top. Ya ya i know this one blows the door's off that one and so on. The 11 Apex is expected to be around 10 lb heavier with 155 to 158 peak hp and a much stronger low and mid, It will be very strong. kviper

After riding the new apex i have to say it felt the same weight wise as my 06, but motor wise felt much much stronger low and mid, so I'd say your right on the $$, lol!!

Sooo,

No Dyno #'s available yet I guess.

kviper. Which Apex is 10 lbs heavier. Std or SE?

I knew Chris was saying up about 5% which puts it at 157 + or - but was hoping someone had put one on a Dyno .

I was not told a specific model. I would guess it would be comparing comparable model's.

AS for the quality question? Just finished my sixth season on the 05 RX-1. A few minor suspension issues over the years a wheel here and there. After beefing up the shock valving and putting a heavy spring in ( I ride all out..bumps damned ), no major issues. Engine is bullet proof and approaching 10,000 miles. My buddy may be faster but he is on his third doo. Enough said.

Sorry riceburner for going off direction for your question.
I've posted questions before and got a bunch of BS that has nothing to do with a simple question and it's frustrating.
I too would like to see a dyno test with torque curve compared to current Apex engine.
When my new one comes in this fall I plan to weigh it just for curiousity.

No Sweat.

Yep the curves are what I would like to see.

;)!

I'm curious about this too, and I've done a lot of internet searching with no luck. Every other sled maker is eager to post numbers for their new engines. With Yamaha though, I fear we will have to wait for the media to produce any Dyno reports... probably in fall?

Chris Reid from Yammie Canada said he would make one available to G Force so they can modify the Yamacharger to work on the 2011 Apex. That was initially scheduled for April/May I believe.

How long that will take to get the info out to us is anyone's guess.

Ulmer in the US and Boss in Canada have been really good at posting info here.

Maybe we will get lucky and one or both of them will get a unit and we will hear earlier than fall.

:rocks:

G-Force is working on fitting the Yam-Charger to an 11 as we speak, Talked to Danny a couple day's ago. I will be talking to him again tomorrow, Will ask more specific question's. kviper

I talked to Danny today, They are working on fitting the charger to the 11 Apex and plan to have the kit's available mid to late summer. They were not allowed to dyno the new sled, I assume Yamaha does not want preproduction number's floating around incase of change. kviper

Ya right, they were not allowed to dyno.... Probably were not allowed to let numbers out of the bag. On another note, I also heard that G-force is trying to squeeze out a published, solid, 25hp for the 2011 Apex....

As someone who is thinking of buying one of these sleds (and likely will....), this is a bit irksome.

Yamaha is happy to use viral marketing for the 2011 apex. They want people like me to see youtube "dealer first impressions" and to read pre-production reviews on sites like this one, on sleds that are yet-to-be-released. So these sleds that are worthy of praise are not worthy of being on the dyno?

Go ahead and tell the dyno posters that the sled they were given is a pre-production unit and that numbers may change... We want to see the numbers! If they don't want us seeing pre-production numbers, why should we accept pre-production ride reviews and "dealer first impressions"?

This whole "from the seat of my pants it was way more power" posts are worthless without NUMBERS. Why? Because "seat of the pants" is only (maybe) worth something from an objective party. As soon as someone got a special invitation, or has spent money, or could make money, objectivity goes out the window (subconsciously - I'm not saying anyone is a liar).

Yamaha is implicitly asking me to invest $14k on a promise. They are happy for that promise to be based on subjective reviews of the pre-production unit, but not willing for the objective reviews of the same unit.... Either give me credit as a consumer to understand that production units may vary from pre-production, or do not. But don't make the split between subjective and objective.... It is insulting.

I should add that I rode a pre-production standard apex and LOVED it. I do NOT know how to compare it to a 2011 XTX or SE, nor the 2010.... That is, in part, what NUMBERS are useful for. But if the numbers are not reliable, why should the subjective feel be?
