2011 Apex Pricing ???? Yamaha is out to lunch

Schmeg hit the nail on the head. The dollar is not worth a pi$$ hole in a snowbank today. In 2002 the exchange in Canada vs the Greenback was 48% 1.48 to one. Today 5%, 1.05 to one. Does not not take more than a 75 IQ, what most two smoke Ski Doo owners are armed with to figure that one out. :moon:

You dont see a $2000 advantage of a new apex SE vs a 800 etec? Go buy the Doo...

More like a $3000 advantage, and ABSOLUTELY NOT.. I don't see a $3000 advantage to the NEW apex.. Before this, the price was high but worth it... Now its too high to be worth it.

Like I said, If I were buying a new sled it PROBABLY would be a doo.. But Im not.. Im keeping my YAMAHA apex, my YAMAHA Rhino, my YAMAHA grizzly 660, and my YAMAHA v max 125 O/B on my boat...
As you can see, I do like yamahas and I see how great a machine they are but there certainly is NOT a $3000 difference between the new xp 800 and the "new" apex se IMO...

Ok.. this thread is starting to become annoying:

I LOVE MY APEX!!!! and if you don't love yours, and you don't want to get 50,000 trouble free miles out of a snowmobile, than stop polluting our site.. heres and idea, take your attitude go to www.dootalk.com, put your palms on your ankles, and put a yellow grenade up your glory hole...

this is a yamaha site, if you don't like yamaha, find a forum for unemployed lowlifes, with nothing to do, and start a thread: "I SUCK" and make some friends.

:o|

Seriously?? 50,000 TROUBLE FREE miles... Alot of yamahas will go a hell of alot of miles but NOT TROUBLE FREE....

Now, you're saying its ok to come on here and bitch about your suspension breaking, your Y pipes cracking, your donuts blowing, your sled not starting.. etc... etc... etc.. But its not ok to bitch about the price??

Obviosly I love yamaha or I wouldn't own so many yamahas... I ALSO LOVE MY APEX.. I read every post and I didn't hear anyone say they didn't like THEIR apex.. everyone is just saying they won't pay fifteen grand for a machine that they may ride 3-4 months of the year MAX

Im not sure if you are calling us "unemployeed lowlifes" because we are bitching about the price of the new apex or if you are saying ski doo owners are "unemployeed lowlifes" but I know several skidoo riders that make over $200,000/year and some even more.. Actually I can't think of anyone I ride with that is "unemployeed" or "a lowlife" I certainly work hard and make good money... But Im not gunna pay that kinda price for a sled that is just an updated version of the old one...
No matter what, Im NOT buying a new sled this year anyway.. maybe for my wife but Im keeping mine..

Thats all..

Shanks , nothing is perfect, all machines fail to perform at sometime and need repair. The first time you blow up a two smoke you are damn close to the difference between the doo and the yammi. Not to mention the cost of the trip you just F@#n ruined in the process. Not everyone can step out the door and ride. After the explosives training you went through with Poo wonder why you or anyone in there right mind would try to compare the doo 800 to the Genesis 4 stroke. Not in the same league any comp is ridiculous.

First off, i agree the price of the new apex is rediculous.. And if you HAVE to have a new 2011 sled then thats your perogative..

the genesis 4 stroke is the most reliable engine one the snow.. if you disagree with that statement than you are on some super perception altering drugs that i have yet to get my hands on.. any sled is going to have problems it is just to what degree.. i would much rather change exhaust doughnuts every 3000 miles, change bogie wheels, change a-arm bushings rather than have to do a top to bottom engine rebuild (i cant even count how many I've done with poo)..

there is a reason why most people on this site switched brands to ride an apex or attak.. maybe you've lost sight of yours, in that case i encourage you to go out and by a doo, poo or cat and you will soon be reminded why you came to the wonderful world of yamaha reliability..

whats wrong with a leftover 2010? maybe yamaha will get the hint that their prices are ridiculous. But personally i LOVE having the option to keep my 06 until something better comes my way. I use to NEED to get a new sled every 2 years because they didn't last.. Now I dont, and as far as im concerned my 06 apex has fully paid for itself in headache free miles.

I don't know anyone that is willing to shell out $15K for a 2011 Apex SE. All my buds said staying with current sled just will NOT spend $15k plus tax on any sled. Yamaha has exceeded the price threshold for an improved Apex. I'm not sure where Yamaha goes from here or if they can reduce price of the Apex? This may be the begining of the end of the Yamaha snomo division just can't be profitable at lower prices. Yamaha will need to turn a new page on cookie cutter 4s sleds to keep costs down & maintain market share. I'm not feeling good about Yamaha snowmobile future. I like products but my price threshold has been exceeded this year & my riding buds feel the same way not buying Yamaha Apexs too expensive.

I dont think the price will keep many away from it. Look at some popular sledding spots in the UP, $50K trucks with $40K in add ons, $40K trailers with heated shops in them, $2000 in gear they ride in, etc. Point is people on here are more do it your self types that are budget minded and I think the majority are people that rely on dealers to hold thier hand and have the money to do it.

Eitherway its still cheap compared to boating. If you want to ride and you want the best money isn't an object. Otherwise there are cheaper sleds available.

I will never ever buy the argument that you can compare a 4 stroke FI animal on the apex to a 800 two stroke etec or no. Its not even the same league, heck it aint even the same sport! Even Doo guys will tell you that.

We all wanted more technology, more more more but less price, cant have your cake and eat it to.

You are forgeting boating has a better ROI in time use 6-9 months depending on where you live & use boat. 90 days if lucky for a sled in USA. I just don't know anyone that is buying a 2011 Apex just shut down interest over $15K price. They don't want to test ride just swiched heads to off & looking at new doos now. I would not buy an 800 etek but buds would.

Apex SE will be built in small quantities and will be bought by people who like to have high end possessions that can afford them. Others will buy regular Apex, Nytro or Vector. Those that want speed and can't justify the price of Yammi's will buy the other brands as they always have.
You can tow with a Lexus or a Suzuki.
Your boat can be a Sea Ray or a Bayliner.

All will do the same thing but differently and at a substantially different price point.

What ever makes one happy is all that counts.

I love Yamaha with all my heart. I've owned 11 since 1998. The cost of the 2011 is Outrageous!!!

you love your Apex good for you. I really like My Nytro that doesn't mean I'm going to bag on another brand because I'm wearing BLUE GOOGLES!!!

There is a reason Doo is number one is sales. Keep telling yourself it's a fluke!!!

My .02

Apples to apples comparison. All prices retail

09 Apex gt $12,099
10 Apex gt $12,399
11 Apex se $14,949

Factor 2.5% increase like 09 to 10, brings price to
$12,708
There is a 6-8 hp difference between 10 to 11 so....
Factor mods needed to make 10 equal to 11...
exhaust...at least $500
clutching...$250
seat mod or higher seat....at least $250
1in handlebar riser....$40
total.....
$1040 Brings price to $13,748
$1201 difference between 10 and 11, not counting a pcIII or others.

So you are left with paying $1201 for power steering and a 128 track.
Is 14,949 a lot to pay for a sled? Of course. But how much money do most guys put into a sled after the initial purchase? Some of that is not needed on the 11's.
Just my opinion.

This whole topic was already entirely worn out last week.

Seriously, how many ways and how many times can people rant back and forth -- "it's too expensive...no it's not....yes it is...no it's not....yes it is...no it's not"?

Enough already. Agree to disagree and spend the time on worthwhile topics.
