That,s why I don,t put any faith in most of what I read in the snomobile magazines, or on the net. I am lucky in that the group I sled with, we have an Apex RTX, Apex ER, a 2011 Polaris pro r, which works great by the way after 10 years of him have ones that worked not so great, a couple of doo 1200s and a ZR800. I get to see real world results, and what different sleds can do with good clutching, and a header pipe and fuel controller on one of the doo 1200s. I got screwed once by ordering early after going for a demo ride in the spring, on a nice peppy ride, only to receive one of many dogs that particular manufacturer produced that fall. Real world results, seen first hand are great. It,s great to see that guys on here call a spade, a spade.
Great pissing match guys! Where do you think this post is heading? On line bragging or field results? Hard telling.

I will say this...the 1200 doo is one surprising sled also...definately more from less...maybe not a slayer...but a definate over achiever...

What were you racing on for a surface and what distance?
My experience on snow is that my 11 SE is way quicker in 1000 feet than my 06 GT.
Either that or all three of my test Mules got a lot slower this year.
My 2011 SE lays a whoopin on a 10 XP 800 which beats my former 06 Apex GT by 2 lengths and is not that far behind my former SC [5lb] RX 1.
I find the opposite of you. My 2011 feels slow compared to my previous sleds that are now owned by a couple of my riding buds but it is actually sneaky fast.
Not dissing your info. Just not my experience.
Great point... the old apex was seriously affected by load...snow depth etc... they were fast on ice for sure... the new one is less sensitive. curious to see an ice to ice race...vs a snow to snow run of the same two sleds..

funny hearing these stories where someone tries to justify how 1-2 mph is the judgement call for what makes a better machine. If a sled is faster by 1-2 mph, thats just what it is, may not be better, just 1-2 mph faster that day in those conditions. I was out doing 1000 kms in one day on Saturday and made it back at the end of day in good time in one piece. Those are the things that convince me.
Ok back to internet racing....

Hey Dano,
Are you sure you did this ?? "I was out doing 1000 kms in one day on Saturday and made it back at the end of day in good time in one piece. Those are the things that convince me.
Must be a new record, and a very long day.

My muscles still tell me I did this lol. The trip was suppose to be around 1300ish kms for one day, but due to the cold weather and communication issues with my support crew, I backtracked from my original planed loop. I hit the trail at 5:20 am and got back around 6:30 pm. I was stopped for about 2.5 hours total and gassed up 7 times. If it weren't for my food and drinks being froze stiff, I could have narrowed my stops to a total of 45 minutes total.
I must say I put my sled through hell with no major issues.
Don't want to hijack this thread so I may just start a new one later or just pm me for details.

I tested on hard pack ,ice and groomed trail, well thease are the results. Ice 112mph, hard packed snow covered road 107mph, groomed trail with a thick base 102mph. Bone stock apex xtx 850mi on it. Tests were done on the same day. So these results were almost the same as my 2007 apex attak. that i tested and recorded the data 3 years prior. At that time my attak was also bone stock. Ice 111mph on gps, groomed trail 101 mph gps also. I like real world resalts!! Not the B.S. hype that they r trying to feed us so they can sell more sleds. LOVE bouth the attak and the xtx!!!

I think yamaha hurt the 2011 apex with the poor fuel map.

All the Races were done on a snow coverd lake. The distence was around 1000 ft. Snow was packed so we all were getting traction . The sleds were within 1 or 2 lengths of each other at the end. The 2011 apex se was the 1st one to 100mph evry time then it was me with the 2011 xtx and then the rest. The 2011 models jumped ahead from the gate by maybe a sled or 2 and thats how it would stay all the way 2 100+ mph.

Thanks.
A sled or two is a fair bit IMHO. Translates into 1 to 3 tenths at 95 mph or so.
That's the difference between a 500 lb wet 155 hp 2011 800 E Tec and a 150 HP 700 lb wet 2011 Apex at Old Forge this year. [HP per Dynotech]
My 2011 SE performance is a little better than that and I am happy with it.
I heat soaked the engine 3 times over 3 days when new and broke it in quite hard on a used belt the first 500 miles. She is a good runner.
