Hey all, family member has a 2011 Apex SE, 700km so far.

Due to where we ride, a 1.75" Camoplast Back-Country was put on, and WOW can this machine pull your guts out when you hit the throttle.

Tach was reading a full 1000rpm lower than the 10,800 that everyone likes to hit.

Tightened up secondary one notch, helped a little, but obviously it didn't do enough.

Any recommendations on what to do with the primary without having a ridiculous high engagement rpm?

Do we need new weights or a new primary spring?

Thanks,

Mike

2 options....remove all weight from tip
I Have very good luck with 2 speeds in my apex.

Only 700 km on your sled.

Full break in should be good for at least 400 more RPM. That won't be near enough but it will help some.

Thanks guys

Turk, not sure what you mean by a 2-speed Apex? Do you mean taking that weight out takes away overall driveability?

Should I get some aftermarket clutch arms instead?

Thanks!

My SE wasn't hitting rpm as low as yours, but with the stock track, I was only getting 10,400 after 1200 miles. Removed the tip weights and now I'm overrevving up to 11,200. Will be adding the weights back to the tip. It seems the sled "blew its clot out" around 1500 miles and is now hitting the proper rpm.

Pull out the tip weight and put the secondary back to stock. Add the weight back in as the motor breaks in.

You never I repeat never tighten the secondary to increase RPM's. The increase in RPM you are seeing is a result of slipping the belt. If you can't pull 10800 with the stock weights as they are i suggest you remove some weight from the weights. That being said if your motor isn't strong enough to pull over the top of 10800 right now your wasting your time. I know a few guys with these sleds and they can pull over 10800 with the clutching just as it is from teh factory. As the miles increase the RPM's continue to increase. Which is a result of making more power as the motor breaks in.
