Hi Guys, well after putting on 2000kms last year and loving the stock set up, I thought I would take the time to look at doing some adjustments but have no clue where to start, so here are some questions. I pretty much have the front shocks figured out and they are set in the middle, however

How does the centre shock settings effect things on the sled
How about the rear torsion spring?
How about the compression dampening force of the rear shock absorber?
And lastly what does the Control Rods do?

Sorry for all the questions, perhaps these have been answered but I havent seen anything for the xtx. Thanks for your help

Are my question really stupid or hard or up to me to figure out. I would think have one set to hard and one to soft would work against each other

The center shock affects your ski pressure, tighter the spring the less pressure on your skis (effects cornering, better attack angle of track). This is also controled by your limiter strap.

Your rear torsion springs should be adjusted to the same position on both sides.

Compression dampening adjusts how fast the shock will compress under load. I think you have twenty clicks of compression in your rear shock.

Control rods control the amount of transfer(coupling of front and rear skid shocks) in the rear skid when you start off or encounter a bump. more transfer means the rear shock is taking more of the load of the impact or weight transfer at start up. less transfer means the the rear shock couples with the front skid shock to absorb the harder hits.

Setting up your sled for you requires some experimenting to get it right. remember to make small adjustments and write them down(adjustments and effects) so you now where you started.

All these things are covered to some degree in your owners manual, I think that is why nobody is commenting.

Enjoy the the ride.

Maybe everyone has their machine dialed in and responding on whether a skid plate is a good idea.
779Cookies basically nailed it. The most important part is small changes, ride it and adjust to the best overall ride for varying conditions.
Other than the adjusting the clickers once in awhile for conditions, you don't want to be messing with it all the time.

On my 12 XTX at 240lbs dressed, I have the L-strap up one hole, A arms almost level but not quite, lowest weight transfer on the rods, snowtrackers and 114 Mack studs down the middle with center shock at stock setting. Rides great, darting and push is gone but a tiny ski lift is still there when screaming through a corner...but will tweak this winter. 5" of snow today, 18" on the way and trails will be open this weekend!

If you have the 2011 Service Manual Volume 2, not Owners manual, Page 49-51 of the SE & XTX addendum in the back gives a good basic breakdown of symptoms, causes and adjustments for each suspension component on our machines. If not, PM me and I'll email you the pages.
