I recently bought a used 2013 RS Venture GT with just under 7000 miles. It’s darting between 20-40 mph which is pretty much all it do. I don’t think there’s any slop in the steering so I’m thinking it’s suspension/ski setup. Bad when riding solo (220lbs) and with a passenger, front feels light, soft and floaty.

I’ve read a few suggestions on here and people often talk of the centre spring needing to be eased off. Well mine is cranked up on max from what I can tell. Rear cams are on “H”. Here’s a few pictures of centre, rear and front. I’d like to get her to track better with spending a money on new skis as a last resort. Skis aren’t shimmed. Suggestions? Thanks, Tony

I honestly think shimming your skis would help a lot. I'm shimmed with Bergstrom runners and have almost no darting with the stock skis. Plus check your toe-out. Or try some Snowtrackers. People seem to love them on here. I agree that removing preload from the front shock of the rear suspension will help with the light steering you experience when riding with a passenger.

Take some of the preload off the front springs by the ski's

there is a spring on the front shock on the rear suspension. with the rear of the sled/track off of ground, you want the spring stiff to turn by hand before you tighten jam nut. front a arms should be parallel to the ground. make sure toe is set to 1/16"-1/8" toed out. try it again and get back to us. set my brothers 13 rs venture gt that way and it helped a lot.

SnowTrackers for carbides and reduce the preload on that centre shock about 1/3 thae way down the threads.

how did all of that work? I too have a 2015 RS Venture TF, and it darts something fierce--I did what was told to you except for the SnowTrackers, (i kept the same stock carbides) and it helped--but still darting. Did you try the Snowtrackers? or other carbides and have any luck?

sir--how do you release some of the ski pressure? (relieve the ski spring pressure?) I cant move those huge nuts and Yamaha does not give you spanner wrenches anymore? I have 2015 RS Venture TF

Use a big screwdriver & break the ring (lock nut) loose. Then you can use a screwdriver or a large channel lock to loosen the other ring. (nut) Make sure to get the ski's off the ground to take pressure of the springs. Take all the pressure off the springs & then tighten the nut so that the spring has some tension on it.

on my beast--how much can I soften it up or let pressure off of those ski springs before it will just be too much ?

You can take all the pressure off the springs but make sure you put some tension on the spring so that they don't rattle.
