well as much as i love my apex at current prices why would i get another one?
at the yammy dealer apex $15000+ cdn.
doo dealer down the road mxz-x 800-etech 12.700
lighter better handling even better gas mileage more hp, and i bet i don't have to change the sliders every year, bushings ect. i am been waiting for yammy to throw me a bone but loyalty can only go so far and the engine doesn't make the rest of the apex issues dissapear so either there is some new model out that is lighter handles has a 40 ltr fuel tank and i don't have to keep pouring money into the suspension to keep it in one piece, I'll be riding that 800 e-tech in 2013

Yamaha wins the groomed trail segment hands down. So you weekend warrior groomed trails guys go ahead and tell us riders who ride in actual snow in actual terrain that we're crazy for riding sh!t and I'll tell you you're crazy for riding a machine that'll get you killed (or at least severely stuck) where I ride.

Weekend warrior groomed trail guys? Really! I rode last year 11 of 12 days in a row and put on 2,000 miles on those groomed trails. Weekend warrior? I think not! Trail nut maybe!

Now you steep and deep back country boys seem way more like weekend warriors to me! Oh and yes your all crazy!

Yamaha wins the groomed trail segment hands down. Weight doesn't matter on solid snow. Whoever thinks Yamaha is the greatest thing since sliced bread obviously doesn't ride them "out there". In these parts there are very few blue machines in the backcountry and for good reason. People who bought them thinking they would perform well because Yamaha marketed them that way were sorely disappointed and now they can't give them away. Most of the people that love the engine reliability and durability of these sleds are riding them on groomed trails in relatively flat conditions. The guys out west and on the west coast of Newfoundland require a sled that can do it all. So you weekend warrior groomed trails guys go ahead and tell us riders who ride in actual snow in actual terrain that we're crazy for riding sh!t and I'll tell you you're crazy for riding a machine that'll get you killed (or at least severely stuck) where I ride.

Just because you ride in back country does not make you any better than any other snomobiler out there. You also do not love the sport any more than any other rider out there. I have taken my stock 04 rx1 to revelstoke and guess what we went everywhere we wanted to and you bet the snow was deep I got stuck once but that was my mistake not the sled so what are you trying to say? Did I go to extreme chutes no but I did go anywhere in the fresh powder I wanted to with no problems. I also will warn you on calling other sledders here weekend warriors like you are some superior member or snowmobiler.

I cant believe some comments I am reading....seriously...buy something u like, if u hate yami.
Have u noticed that most of the people complaining are nytro owners?? For the life of me... I will never understand
why somebody would buy a 4 stroke for ditch bangin, or powder riding....when the competition makes much lighter, better sleds for that application.
You need to ask ur self what are the three most important
things I need out of a snowmobile...and then buy the sled that matches ur needs best.

Yamaha does that for me...good fuel economy, reliability, and performance....truth be told...the attak is too fast for me and what I do....my next sled will be a vector...which is a great trail sled. How many vector owners do u see complaining about the 2013 models??
Yamaha does not suck....they make some great trail sleds.
They just may not be for u and your type of riding.

Btw....the two worst snowmobiles I have ridden are the nytro rtx, and the ski doo x package...both were too stiff for me, both were cold riding...neither one was for me.
But I digress...i am a middle aged trail rider...so those sleds dont meet my core needs.

Great post and I agree! ;)! ;)!

X2 Saquash...Ruckus...Weekend Warrior ??? Hardly..I lived in Colorado, Michigan, and Wisconsin...while I was in colorado, I rode to the top of Georgia Pass on a 250 elan (11,000 something feet of elevation..I forget)

I Have boondocked out west, and in the western U.P....shoot I was busting powder in the early 90's on the pipeline (between marinesco, and wakefield Michigan), and running the highlines of the Keweenaw...before it got trendy..in fact my sled of choice was an 89 exciter LE...no long track...no deep lugs...no special skis...I learned alot about riding in the bush with that sled.....and believe me...if you can bush ride with one of those in waist deep powder ....you can ride anywhere....lol

Where I currently live...northern wisconsin we have miles of beautiful trails..in fact statewide we over 13,000 miles of groomed trails...they cross lakes , swamps, fields, and into lush forests.....LOVE IT....I can ride from my house any day as long as there is snow. I ride my sled to work too.
Weekend Warrior..?? NOT!!!

Some of you powder/free riders think you are more important than you are...or that there are more of you out there than there really is.
In reality, you are a very small segment of the buying population.
Losing you to (insert brand)...is probably not much of a loss.
To prove my point, go look up sales numbers over the last 3 years...I would bet Yamaha has sold 3 times more Vector or Vector variant sleds than Nytros/MTX's combined.....and apexes are probably 2-1 over nytro's.

Get mad if you want...but yamaha's core demographic is the over 40 year old, who makes over $60,000 dollars a year....and not many of those guys (myself included)...want to go bang ditches on a sled with a stiff suspension and no wind protection...nor do I like digging out every 5 miles...that sounds like work to me...not riding ...lol

I want to relax, and enjoy myself...get to my destination, and return home....and yamaha...does that well.

Can I ask you a question and I'm not trying to flame or start a fight. Why do you care that people are upset? Most people who are upset simply want to stick with Yamaha but feel there isn't a sled in the lineup that meets there needs. When you switch brands everything changes. for instance I had a great relationship with Kevin at Port Yamaha. I trusted I would always be taken care of when I ordered parts. Well I ride a Cat now and I don't have a relationship with a Cat dealer like I did with Kevin. When You make a brand change all your brand specialty tools have to be replaced. Snowmobile are snowmobiles but after many years of working on a Yamaha you have to learn how to wrench on a new brand. Things like clutches and suspensions are different. I had a entire tool box filled with performance parts I could use on any Yamaha. Now I had to start from scratch with this new sled. Many people wear brand specific gear. That all has to be replaced. It's not as simple as you want to make it.

Yamaha has been building this same platform since 2008 now. The tweaks to a couple models don't cut it anymore.

Dirk can I ask you a question? Why do you care if he posts about hearing negative things about his ride when he is very happy with it and does not agree with the negative posts?

What negative things did he hear about his ride?? His post was about disappointment is the 2013's. I love yamaha and not for a nasty wreck I'd be on a 2011 apex.

Yamaha should be happy people still care. I can tell you the day people arnt posting disappointment over a lame release like this is the day they should worry.

What's the title of his post? What's my original question? It all pertains to the 2013's.

Every sled has flaws that's why we wrench. We wrench because we love our snowmobiles. I have no problem with a guy loving what ever sled they own. My problem is with people who Act like there are no issues with their sled, and in the case of this thread no problems with yamahas 2013 lineup. Guys don't want to switch they want a Yamaha but feel like Yamaha has nothing to offer. They should be able to say that without people telling them how wrong they are.

Yes, in fact backcountry riding makes you a much better snowmobiler. Love is subjective so its a moot point. Your RX1 wouldn't last 5 minutes in the terrain where we ride in western Newfoundland (check out http://www.lewishillbillies.com). The first fall line you crossed you would be stuck or at the bottom. A 700 lb sled on a 45 degree chute?...C'mon. Superior snowmobiler, no. Ride every day?...pretty much. I do about 30-40 miles a day and that takes around four intense, forearm ripping, back straining, leg aching, clothes soaking, gallon of water drinking hours to complete. Warn me all you like, its not going to change the truth. Accept the fact that Yamaha makes an excellent groomed trail machine and leave it at that. Us backcountry riders have a voice too and just because I am not a rich baby boomer doesn't mean I don't have a say in what we would want in a sled. Personally I would love to have a Nytro motor in my "other" brand but sadly its not going to happen. I'm not willing to slug around the extra 100lbs for so-called "reliability". My apologies to anyone who took offense to my weekend warrior comment. I was just really hoping Yamaha would bring it and the disappointment got the better of my emotions.

I would rather be riding, than wrenching. IF i want to be wrenching on something, I,ll buy used stuff, and fix it up. The season is to short to be wrenching, and waiting for parts.
