Have you seen the bars that go on first gen Apex tall shield? those are what you need. I bought a set from Power madd, and also got a set from my dealer, but he had to call someone he knew at Yamaha dist. to get them with out the shield. Might try used parts guys also. It will fix your issue, and will solid up your headlight also. I am fairly tall, and the mid is worthless for me.Do you have a part number? Where do the metal bars go? Should I just go to a medium windshield?

Yes, I'm tall also, 6'3" and I didn't think the medium would do much. U sit much higher on the xtx vs. warrior. It seams that the whole windshield/headlight pod assembly is loose and floppy. Does anyone have a pic of the metal braces?Have you seen the bars that go on first gen Apex tall shield? those are what you need. http://powermaddstore.com/pm/product.php?productid=259. They are for 06-10, but work just as well for 11-........ I jack front of sled up so I can turn handle bars and find the place where there is no conflict, then use a pencil to draw around the bars where they meet windshield, and dash, I usually push windshield forward just a little. then drill holes at those locations and its all happiness from there. The directions do tell how to orient the bars, buttYes, I'm tall also, 6'3" and I didn't think the medium would do much. U sit much higher on the xtx vs. warrior. I dont think the template is totally accurate, for this aplication, but it is close. I have done this in motel parking lot for a buddy. Scary the first time, then nothing to it.

I found it, Thanks! Now I have to decide whether to keep this goofy tall windshield and get the wierd looking brackets or just put a medium one on it.

If you were cold on a warrior with a med, you will freeze on 11+Apex with a medium!

Agreed the new curve of the windshield is suposed to dircet the air up and over you (maybe if you are 5'2") what it dose is puts it right in your neck and helmet and even with a great helmet (BV2S Here) it is not as nice as the older apexes with mid high windshield. If you were cold on a warrior with a med, you will freeze on 11+Apex with a medium!

I have the same windshield on my 2011. I also have the side peices to keep the wind off my poor old knees! I'm 6'5" and could care less about how it doesn't look cool, -30 to -40 happens when I'm riding and yep It help to keep me not cool! Can't figure out what is happening with yours but mine folds back with wind pressure but that is past 60 mph. It returns to its normal position so I don't know if what you talk about is the same or not. It seems to move in the front when you put rearward pressure on the windshield and has from day one. I will have to check if mine is still hooked or not.

My windshield bends down and pulls the dash panel its screwed to out from under the headlight. See previous pics. Does anyone have the part number for the Yamaha support brackets? Do they look as dumb as I think they will when installed?? Are the powermadd ones the same?

So does it go back up? At what speed does it fold down?

I only got to ride it twice and it unhooked at probably 65 or so and a gust of wind hit it. Now it unhooks from under the headlight with just the pressure from the cover pulling down on it after awhile. Another dealer has told me that the sled wasn't designed to run that tall windshield so either use the braces or a medium height one.So does it go back up? At what speed does it fold down?

We use on 2012 Apex SE and XTXs no problems # SMA 8HG 96-30 BK Yamaha high Windshield. Is this the same as you are using? If so something is wrong in assembly.... We hit low hanging brush ride at high speed on grades triple digits get it all out there & no problems.

Dealer is wrong the windshield is designed for the sled. Silly thing to say. Something is broken or not fitting right. I hit 110mph with my sled same windshield and I do not have th0se ugly braces. Shield bends down a few inches at 110 but comes back up when you slow down. When I look at those braces I only see one more thing that has to be removed to get the windshield pod off. Thats a big enough pain in the arse as it is. I guess its the route to go for the big shield but not fixing the real problem. I feel your pain!

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to those braces. I have an appointment to take it back to the dealer in a couple weeks. But, I don't think he's gonna fix it. I spent a couple hours taking everything apart, examining the pieces, and carefully putting it back together and I thought I fixed it. Then i take the cover off to charge batt and its unhooked again. It's certainly not obvious.Dealer is wrong the windshield is designed for the sled. Silly thing to say. Something is broken or not fitting right. I also hate to point out that if the windshield pops out as you say then a mid height will do the same. When I look at the windshield cover (the windshield bolts to the headlight cover) it locks under a lip on the headlight. If that is seated under the headlight properly there is no way that can let go unless something breaks or something moves. Looks like two screws hold this together and would keep rearward pressure on the windshield cover. That funky rubber gasket also has to lock under the cover (hope that is not in the way of a good lock). Now if that cover does not lock deep under the lip on the headlight your going to have problems. I'm thinking only two things could prevent this, either the screws holding the cover onto the headlight are to loose allowing the cover to slip forward or the cover itself is faulty and not shaped right preventing the cover from sliding back under the lip on the headlight. When I look at the pictures it appears as if the cover is to far forward. Solve the problem of the cover not seating under the lip on the headlight all the way and it should work perfectly without the ginormous ugly in the way braces. They are not needed to make this work. Hope you figure it out!
Manitoba TY Ride at about 5:40 you see the shield bent right down level with the GPS almost at triple digit speed. There is a ton of pressure on the windshield. Other parts of the vid you can see it not bent down. After looking at your pics I know this is what you want, not what is happening to you!
