i have a 2014 ltx with a hurricane turbo. been loosing boost slowly. only on top. was always at 5lbs at 8500 and up. didnt notice much just a power loss on top end. now i never see 5lbs even lugging at 8800. when someone else is riding it i can tell it sounds different than before. i cover the exhaust and it still kills so it must not be cracked much if at all. at wide open holds steady 4lbs and runs rich, 10 on the afr and that was at -10 degrees. so no matter what i am loosing boost or not making it. havent tore into it yet for it is in the shed thawing out. i will tare into it hopefully wed and check all the intake side first. but i think it is a header. just want some of your guys thoughts. thanks

Look on the clutch side of the header right on the seam, that's where they added the gusset.

is there an easy way to check it besides tearing it apart.

Not really, it is actually pretty quick to move the fuel tank and get to the heat shield

Tator, did Yamaha/ AC change there header for 2015? If so maybe you can get the updated header (under warranty), I can remember that the header supposed to be a lot stronger on the 15's.

Thats a bad weld. It should not have passed Q.C. and gotten on a sled to begin with. It looks like cold lap on the edge of the weld where it cracked. Caused by weld not centered on seam when welded.

Thats what we were thinking. Allen looked the new one over prior to installation hopefully I get through the season if not going with aftermarket header.

Did you notice these differences after the Reflash? Maybe its fuel related?

yes i have the reflash. i noticed better starts warm and cold. same map. nothing electrical controls the boost. the boost gauge is reading 4. and afr is rich at WOT. after the flash i still had 5lbs and perfect afr numbers. now its low. 700 miles after the flash. my dealer has a 15' header in stock and its all warrented. if thats the problem. yes the 15s are supposed to be beefed up. i rode with a viper without the reflash and on friday morning at -10, mine started after 2 seconds. his took 3 trys to start.

did yours act with the cracked header like mine is, yamadog? i would see a flash of 5 right away then 4. seems to hold steady boost at all levels just wont ever see 5. now i never see 5. must be getting worse. new i would see 5 always. i had to tighten my secondary to get 8700 rpm too (on top) runs perfect just low boost on top so less power. i am digging into it tomorrow night. and sounds different at WOT. you can hear pressure releasing somewhere. header, BOV, WG. i cant tell. guessing header. dealer had one crack on a stock 14 also.

Not sure when mine cracked!!!! I had so many problems last year and after the rebuild of the motor I went to 9 #'s but I was up and down all the time sometimes banging off the rev limiter other times not. Thats why I started all over with Allen Ulmer. During the tear down he found the broken header. Thee was no popping or loud noise I could hear over the loud muffler. I don't think mine got to the point that I was losing a lot of pressure yet.

I did lose my waste gate rod last weekend and that really lost power and the waste gate was dumping exhaust cause it was wide open. I was riding down a trail and just heard the note change and then lost boost. I thought I popped another header but was just the rod end came off.
