The mountain max 700 is an old sled... last sold in the early 2000's.
The fact that they arent talking weight or HP tells me those are both dissapointments......Can easily see the HP being down with the new exhaust system.
So what is the real HP number of the 1049 engine in the Nytro........And whats it in the SR Viper ?

Are we expecting a new Yamaha mountain chassis next year?
Or is it gonna be the same Cat, only with a longer track? Is this really it?

Is this a two stroke in a Procross that Yamaha is holding back? Or am I just missing something completely??? (I would be a happy person if this were a boosted version that they are holding until Cat's release date, but I doubt it based on what the names are)
I have same question. I wonder if the Venom is the phazer replacement for 2015 and their web people didn't know it and grouped the accessory descriptions together...

Those pictures clearly look to me like covers for the early 2000's viper/venom... Is it unusual for them to still sell covers for old models?

The SX Venom was a 2 stroke non-power valved 600 that was available until I believe 2006. You might see a SR Venom next year, but what you're seeing on the website isn't a mistake. There are still some accessories available that will fit that model.
It should be pretty clear by now that YMC did not have anything in the R&D pipeline since the procross chassis release in 2011. If they did, we'd be seeing something different by now. Based on last year's response to the 2013 MY release, I'd say YMC is worried about a mass exodus, especially if they didn't bring new iron to the table this year. Without customers, so go their dealers. The Viper is a short-term band-aid IMO.
That said, I believe YMC is no longer resting on its laurels ... I bet they offer something better than the Viper in the next couple of years. My guess is MY 2016, as I think it will take them that long to develop, test and retool. The Viper is a nice looking sled, and I'm sure it performs well. But its still not a sled that is better than any other OEM offering in any similar class ... and we've yet to see what the others will offer for 2014.
For me, the QA issues of having this sled built in TRF is the biggest question with this sled. And because I believe something better is in the works, I'm not persuaded to pull the trigger on this one. I will have a look at it tomorrow though, the benefits of working minutes from Minneaopolis ... unless it snows ... then I'm going riding.

Doh! You're right. I didn't even notice it was SX, not SR, Venom when I looked at it.
