When was last service? It happens alot from water in shock blowing sealhead out of body or limiter straps stretched over extending shock.

I just bought the sled for my dad. I noticed the shock was broke during my inspection. Unsure of when the shock was serviced, my guess never, 14000 kms on the sled. It did appear as though water was in the shock body when I pulled it out of the skid. When was last service? It happens alot from water in shock blowing sealhead out of body or limiter straps stretched over extending shock.

My center shock on my 14 ltx was seized in the midway point when I took it out this year, the top cap was crooked with the oring hanging out. I verified that I still had to compress the new shock 1/4" to get my limit straps connected, so in my case something in the shock went and it wasn't stretched straps. The new shock for mine had a superceded number, not sure if yours is a similar deal.

Travis at BOP I am sure has one. I have one also. Revalved though so $150 and shipping a new one from on line is about $90.
And yes the limiters stretch. Last hole can become unusable. But Water/Ice is powerful.

My center shock had the cap coming off crooked and the o-ring was starting to pop out. Luckily, I was able to get a new one from the dealer! After doing some reading on this amazing forum, I learned about the limiter strap stretching. So when I put the new shock in, I pulled it a hole tighter. In my quest to try to get a wheelie out of this chassis I had it as loose as possible. Still, no real wheelies...
