Viper Xtx mcx 270
I got a viper xtx le 2016 with mcx 270 kitt and mcx header and race intercooler. My machine is hard on belts, I dont know where to start looking why its taking belt.
My clutching is new mcx 270 weights
45degree helix with artic green secondary spring
The clutches is cold its not even 40+ celcius

Can the cluthes be to cold? im running the 8dn belt btw. And the belts have been ripped off. Can it be the secondary spring beeing to stiff ? I have good RPM trough all the registry.

Provided your clutch alignment is good your side pressure is probably too high. Maybe a steeper angle helix would be a step in the right direction.

Mine was hard on belts last year with the MPI trail kit. Sent the clutches to Ulmer and he said the secondary bushing was bad. Probably came like that. Haven't gotten to ride it yet this year to see if it is sorted out though.

Just out of curiosity. Are you running the OSP adjuster?

This is what i believe also, if it rips the belt with no delimination it's probably binding.
And if it's not bindind from a bad bushing it can bind from other causes.
Do you know if the sleds speed is the same everytime it rips?
I would remove the spring, reinstall helix and simulate full shift out, it's easier to se all three towers with clutch on workbench, and see if there's residue from casting residue making contact between the sheeves, there usually is evidence when inspecting the towers on the movable sheeves or the slots on fixed sheeve from contact with each other.

Im not running with osp adjuster, each time the belt had been ripped off is when i have dragrace with a friend, as i said the cluthes doesnt even reach +40 celcius,
the sidepreassure should be high as you dont want too have any slipp. I can test another spring in the secondary.

I am, works like a charm for me, should i look for something?

No. I just have a couple different theories about why mine was eating belts. Not sure about any of them yet. Once I get the thing on snow and can test it I'll know more.

It seems that the belt is goin to deep in sekundary, can that be the problem?

No it isnt but the helix is 5 mm deeper it is machined so it gets more travel, it seems that it is to much as the belt is forced down in sekundary

I don't think your belt could go that far down in the secondary, especially running an 8DN belt which is longer than stock 8JP and primary not machined for OD.

Well my secundary is polished on the towers so it cant be anything else that have been down there, gona use another helix to see if the problem disapeer

Other thing to check would be the Center to Center distance of your clutches.
