2016 Yamaha Apex?

love my ape sad to see tipped up rails going away was thinking about a new 2017 but not if they dont offer the true xtx with tipped up rails i will run what i have for ever if i have to best all around sled out there hands down.

Why change something that aint broken. Yamaha sleds and quads and every other piece they build is tried tested and bulletproof. For all those people that bitch and complain about yamaha not doin big change, buy a doo or a polaris and sit half the season waiting for repairs/parts. Have seen it a million times. The apex stands out in quality, performance, reliability, resale, just to name a few. When our apex xtx is next to a competitor sled, the apex stands out. You can see the quality.

My good friend that I ride with all the time rides a couple Apex 136's too. We have had the discussion that YES Yamaha could shave some weight on the Apex models no doubt like Ski-Doo has to their chassis. These things are built pretty tough. My question is how far do you go? At what point do you start having failures? I know for a fact that the bulk heads are prone to tear on the Ski Doo's......seen it over and over in my friends shop. Not too sure I would trade for that.

Spoiled little brats. Yamaha is a private company. They don't "owe" anyone #*$&@. They can do whatever the hell they want including dropping the Apex and the whole snowmobile line made in Japan.

I'm thinking Yamaha is targeting the 45+ market. Those who posses the resources for the premium price tag and likely are interested in trail cruising, while still being afforded the ability to argue top end in an attempt to remain relevant. Just look at the athletes they have riding the Apexes on their website LOL. Personally, love the quality, have 2 outboards, 2 ATVS, 4 sleds, original '06 Apex 12,000 miles, bought a left over '08 RTX, stretched and Yamacharged it in an attempt to keep it interesting, also recently purchased a mcx 290 turbo apex, all while waiting for something new and truly innovative, perhaps like a ' 78 SRX, 81 SRX, '84 Phazer ......a Vmax 4, something rather than just refinement. I'm committed or should be! Viper is cool, but I can't get past the Cat participation, my bad. Definitely disappointed with 2016s offering but rather than raining on everyone's parade, think I'll try something else, it's not jumping ship! It's not disloyal, it's simply consumer choice! How lucky we are to have all these choices, maybe not all 4stroke but it appears that the 2strokes have greatly evolved, offer great warranties and lightweight advantages. If my new 2stroke fails I can always jump aboard my "old faithful Apex". If you aren't happy, try something different, plain and simple, exercise your options! Read a bunch of great posts on the 2015 Axys, even the BRP guys are calling it "FUN" to ride. FUN sounds good, that's why we do this! If you are so disappointed with Yamaha's offering that you find it necessary to express it to the devout loyalists on this site it is probably time for a change. As for the few that have made the change and return here to preach to the devout Yamaha loyalists, who are you really trying to sell your choice too? Just have fun.

Just so you guys know, i had a 2008 ATTAK' a 2010 Apex LTX, a 2009 Vector LTX.. went across the river to Poolaris.. (ouch), then Arctic Cat for a year, then BRP for 3 years.. i am now on a Renegade 1200 X 2015.. not bad, but: NO POWER, AND YOU GET YOUR #*$&@ KICKED AROUND IN THE BUMPS.. so anyway, me and 2 other guys that dropped Yamaha 5 years ago went for a test drive of a 2015 Apex....WOW...THAT THING ROCKS... don't you guys let the esthetics of the machine fool you, this ain't at all the same sled as 10 years ago.. the EPS is downright crazy, the suspension is a little better, ergos better, moto sound more soft at mid with no vibration, tunner skis: world of difference, better wind sheil, heating grips....HMM...

GUESS WHAT: 3 new guys coming back to Yam camp... so don't despaire.. the Apex is still the king... and event if the outside of the box has not changed, the inside sure has...

ordering a 2016 Apex LE ..now i'm trying to find out what shocks to put on it.. higher seat (boss probably) and maybe agressive skis... i'M BACK..:yam::4STroke::bling

and with the Dampers front and rear, new rear suspension, i know a lot of 800 guys that will be crying in their helmets next year.. my buddies and I ride hard and fast, and nooooo body is gonna like it when they get passed by 3 Apex's...:die

i need to know wich shocks are used on theses sleds.. are the fox Evols doing good?

I am so jealous of you guys buying the newer Apex's. I love my 2nd Attak but would love to move up. Can't...old age and budgets make it so hard...there was a time thou...

i know what you mean, i was broke 10 years ago, and now i am more capable of paying the goodies, and a little old so i love the power steering..

Nice to hear.

I think one of the biggest improvements no one is talking about besides the rear skid is the track. IMHO the Ripsaw just wasn't aggressive enough for the power/torque these things have. Most of my friends with 136 Apex's went with the Cobra track. Huge improvement, some say they scrub top end which seems to be true on my old 2 stroke, but not as apparent on the 4 stroke.... more torque?? I installed a Ripsaw II on my 136 Apex this year and wow...I was going to get the Cobra too but the guys at Port Yamaha talked me into the RSII, said they had some failures on Cobra tracks.....probably marginal snow riders though. We swapped back and forth and I think the hookup was very similar and that was in the UP where the snow is like sugar and doesn't pack in well.

With the track alone these new ones are going to rock.

They make so many little changes, and the sled is now a different beast, but everybody thinks its the same old sled with a few bandaids to patch problems... but this sled is really way ahead of the first models.. thumbs up Yam.. except maybe your marketing department isn't getting the messge out there...
