I am curious to know what yamaha of japan is up to look at there lineup for 2016, last year they had the NYTRO mtx now they just have the Phazer mtx, and the utility sleds. Perhaps somethings brewing?????

Let's try to all remember guys that it's not what you ride but that you ride......this snowmobiling sport and hobby that we all love needs as much help as possible to survive......every trail permit purchased is critical to the sport......every club joined is critical to the sport......we seem to be loosing more and more ground to the non enthusiest every year and we can't afford that......besides I actually enjoy having the other manufacturers on the trails because that allows us to mix things up a bit and gives the Apex riders opportunity to prove weight doesn't matter.......lol.....

Really???...you couldn't tell the difference between an EPS equiped sled and a non eps equiped sled??? You didn't notice the increase of nearly 20 lbs of torque?? You didn't find the XTX to be a better big bump sled than your 06??

REALLY??? OK...I'm not gonna argue with you...I had an 07 Attak GT...and this XTX is night and day better....Yamaha just might not be for you...Good luck with which ever brand you choose.

I'm pretty sure that Yamaha Japan just builds what they can sell to their snowmobile customers. I've never been to Japan but I've heard that they do not have the developed trail systems that the North American market does, nor to they have the developed mountain sled market that we also have. Last year and this year none of the Viper models were available in the Japanese market either. Look at what BRP does in the Scandinavian markets with their Lynx sleds which are not available in the North American markets. They're going to sell what the market needs and asks for I guess. I can just see the comments that the previous sentence will generate here

Hopefully you're right and something is brewing for us on this side of the pond!

I own a 2007 Attak but spent a few hours riding a 2011 XTX last year in the UP of Michigan. It belonged to Pat's but he let us take it out for awhile. IMHO the XTX was smoother, had more linear but stronger acceleration, was faster than the older ones and the power steering made it feel lighter. It was quieter too.........I know it was faster being we lined it up with ours. Mine was completely stock and so was the XTX. Now this year I have a Ripsaw II which hooks better and I clutched it. Not sure how it would stack up against that same machine today but I can say mine has really woke up from last year being I have a guy to test against. But all that can be done to the newer ones too.

I think the most intreresting Yamaha news will be with the Arctic release.. Their deal with Suzuki as an engine supplier has run out if Im not misstaken.. With Yamaha as new partner it is unlikely that they extend it.. And Arctic does have a stock 4stroke turbo sled in it's lineup.. Im really hoping (but it's highly unlikely) that the weight program Yamaha did to their engines is because it's replacing the Arctic turbo program?

I really like the Vector XTX. With a 2up seat that will make a great cruiser to take the wife to Quebec. Is there a variable tune like the SD Aces?

BTW the new skid mostly resembles (in principal function) something I saw recently on YouTube from Nex-Tech.

Yes I remember you were on ape's way back when they were real popular jtssrx,but have you ridden a well set up xtx ape w/ps and esupx,if not give on a try for several hundred miles,you will be amazed,i would not have let myself ride a long track of any kind after my fieasco w/the 06 attack I had,that was the sled I traded a guy in Ontario my long skid for his short skid,that was how bad I didliked the 136,but now after many ape's a few doo's a few poo's and a failed cat turdbo,I am on one,ya and not a 121 or 129 or 136 but 144,man I just cant believe how this tank goes lol,sweet!

I road the madrussians xtx for about 100 miles one day. I happened to own a 2012 Procross at the tine. There was no comparison the cat "current viper" was head and shoulders better. It was close in weight but felt like a much lighter sled. My biggest issue with the Cat was it broke every time we road and blew a belt every 400 miles.

The seating position on the apex is very old school. I feel like I'm slouching when I ride it. If they made it more rider forward and lowered the motor like it is in the vector I would like an apex. Have you ever road a vector? It feels much lighter then an apex.

Anyone who says the weight doesn't matter hasn't ridden a Viper. The Viper should have a much lighter feel compared to the Apex, My Cat did. I just can't ride a cat again and that's what the viper is. Also performance wise the viper is underwhelming. We race on anchor bay every weekend we aren't on the trail. Last weekend The Russian and I both raced a turbo viper 10 or 15 times and smoked it every time.


Again I really want to ride a Yamaha. It just hard to justify riding one when none of them co pair to what I ride now. I'm crossing my fingers that 2017 brings a new apex maybe named SRX

Not sure how tall you are but i am 6'1" and kind of long armed. The original owner of my Attak had the 2" riser and 2" of foam added to the seat top at an automobile upholstery shop. It really feels better to me and I really notice the difference when I swap back and forth to my friends Attak. It seems like it is even easier to transition to a standing position when I need to. The only bad thing is I have the original low windshield on now and the wind hits me pretty good. I have the taller grandpa one for it too that it came with but it doesn't look as nice with that on. I need to get a mid ht. one for it.
