Remember you then have to pay the CDN taxes at I think 15 percent.Wow! That converts to $13,000 USD Dan. That is a smoking deal! You are crazy not to sign the dotted line today.

Dan.... Do you ever want to bring this sled back to the U.S.? If, so, then you will pay a tax to have it registered in the U.S. You cant have it both ways and think you can bring it back and forth between the U.S. and Canada, because you are a U.S. Citizen. You can buy it in Canada, but it can only be registered in 1 country. So you have to add on the amount to import it back to the states or it stays in Canada at your place near Muskoka...Ok so Im doing my due diligence today....Many dealers out there are much higher then others. Im now currently shopping Ontario(Canada) where I ride, so these are all CAD. My USD goes so much further here for sure. A few phone calls can save you 2k Im finding.
I will say that ONE DEALER blows away all others by a fair amount. More on this below.
One dealer I would NOT BUY FROM is Dewildt Yammie on Hwy 400, they are not even trying to get buyers, and actually selling for full MSRP PLUS freight/pdi and I hate when dealers give price then add things afterwards under their breath, just give me the bottom line price please.....and these are the kinds of dealers that wonder why people shop around. Who wants to pay 2000 MORE dollars for same sled?
After a few dealers around 18,900 down to 18,100.... and even a $19,399 MSRP plus freight/pdi to total 19,999!!! at Dewildt(pre tax)....The previous lowest of 17,670 cad from BlueSky was best....
Not even my local dealer up north here was very good, Bracebridge Yammie would been nice to buy from as I like Dan the head tech there, but the pricing was not good at all.
I made the call to a great dealership I have often wanted to work with. Carlson Sports in North bay. I was sure to ask him if its OK for me to post his price, he said SURE.
So Aaron up there at Carlson Sports gave me this price:
RTX 50th (MSRP 19,399cad)
-$17,398 All incentives IN (Pre-Tax/License)
($2001 dollars OFF MSRP)
I don't see any other dealers even coming close, and he assured me he is still making a profit, while other dealers today on phone lied to me telling me they are below their cost at a much higher pricing...lol
Thanks Aaron for being open/honest with your aggressive pricing. I hope you get some more buyers!
Dan

For my local trail system the shorty is king here, always has been. I have only ever owned 120/121 sleds....until my 129 cat in 2012, and now a 129 4tec doo...all work well here. Rode a 137 SW much of the winter, lack of transfer and not as nimble on tighter trails, but mostly the lack of transfer was annoying after lengthening straps and removing blocks. All the rtx feedback is very good transfer that I like for our trail system. I think next season you will see more RTX owners too. But for me this is the norm.Hey Dan
Im surprised your looking at a 129? Are you not thinking about a Huricane or TD flash too? This is my second 137 and really like the length.
Great prices and thanks for sharing.

Mike,Wow! That converts to $13,000 USD Dan. That is a smoking deal! You are crazy not to sign the dotted line today.
You hit the nail on head bud! The direct conversion is 13,000 usd only. That is close to 2000 LESS then many dealers in USA. The huge CAD/USD discrepancy is something I just cannot ignore. Not too mention I do ride up here exclusively, never ride in NY at all.
And the other thing that is huge, is selling my sleds up here....Ontario has many people with big pocketbooks, and a HUGE population around the Greater Toronto area(GTA). Used sleds get snapped up rather fast, and always bring in more then down in WNY where I live.
My only regret with this, is not buying from my AMAZING dealer at home. I know he likely is not too happy with me, but I hope he can understand. The exchange rate is just too huge to ignore.
I should be able to go from my 2 season old 4tec, jump up TWO SEGMENTS(130hp to 200hp) and 2 yrs newer, for around 4500usd only. That is hard to imagine, when the cost jump from 4tec to SW alone is nearly that much in the SAME model yr.
Will see how things actually shake out, but I am now able to lower my selling price on my 4tec which has a TON of goods as you know, so anyone who knows a doo fan, let them know.

Yes Joe the taxes are more up here, 13% HST. So 5% more then Niagara county where I am at home. It adds up to very little when trading in though. Just a drop in bucket when comparing to the huge savings.Remember you then have to pay the CDN taxes at I think 15 percent.
I know so many people at home who buy sleds in Ontario, and Ive done it many times in the past, but its been a few yrs now since I have. Hard to ignore the prices.

Well, you may be correct on some parts..but....
First off you can take sled back and forth anytime you want without issue, the rub comes into play IF you for some reason decide to IMPORT or EXPORT the sled officially..then you PAY taxes/Import fees ect....Done that many times, but in the case of BUYING in Canada, I would have no reason to Take it back to USE officially.
As a matter of fact, I pay MORE in yearly registration fees in NY due to having to pay into the trail fund where i NEVER ride. And then must buy OFSC permit obviously too up north. So I always enjoy owning a CA sled better, as the yearly registration fees here are about HALF of what I pay in NY. SO that is ANOTHER savings over time.

Only reason I started this thread was to see others pricing out sleds in their regions....Not many have chimed, so do you guys just buy locally and pay whatever prices they give you? Or do you guys shop around? Just would like to hear more about pricing around Ontario, and also USA too....
Anyone get better pricing then 17,398cad? (RTX 50th)
Aaron at Carlson Sports sent me the contract, all the numbers are REAL as I was hesitant to believe him.LOL. He asked me to tell you all, as he is discounting these much more then last season to try a new approach at volume selling, he wants to sell alot of sleds and pricing aggressively....So give him a call and feel free to tell him Dan sent you.

From my experience. I have bought sleds in the U.S. and did not register them in Canada( did not pay tax's ) and when I tried to bring them back and forth, they would not let me do that. I had to register it in Canada before I could do it. Might be because I am Canadian. All I am saying is there maybe additional cost that you are not factoring in. Most of my sleds that I bought in the U.S were registered in Canada and then I had to pay the 13% and once before, I had to pay the 6% Michigan tax, but not always...Well, you may be correct on some parts..but....

Yeah that wont ever work, my bud tried that....he was never able to take it across without scrutiny. They just want their tax money in whichever country/province/state the sled is registered in. Trying to get around that is not easy and I have never had to worry about that as I register in the country sled is from, so taxes are paid according to law. Most of my sleds that I bought in the U.S were registered in Canada and then I had to pay the 13% and once before, I had to pay the 6% Michigan tax, but not always...
Your in a different situation then me. Im a Yankee who owns homes in each country. I have never tried to change the sleds origin. And most all the manufacturers dont allow for this anyway on NEW sleds, it must be a USED sled to buy and import/export to another country.
My USA sleds always registered NY, and all my CAN sleds were registered in Ontario. Its very simple for me.
Taxes and Import fees are only applied when you import a sled to a different country, which I never have done. With exception of selling some of my used sleds to canuk buds...They simply pay the 220 import fee, 13% taxes and take to crappy tire for inspection. Been selling most my sleds in CA as they bring more in, but this time NOT changing the sale funds back to USD will help more, and apply the CA cash to the new SW purchase up north.
The only way to fix this is if manufacturers priced them closer to the actual exchange. But that would mean US sleds would either go down, or CA sleds would go way up...So as long as exchange is 30% or so, its a big savings.

Dan how can you pay more in yearly registration fees in NY? It cost me 125 bucks to register both of my sleds in NY. That's 45 bucks for each sled and 35 bucks to join the local club. Please tell me how I can get two Ontario season permits cheaper because if I can then I want two.Well, you may be correct on some parts..but....

In Canada, anyone know out of pocket amount I would have to pay for trading in my 2017 LTX LE for a 2018 RTX LE, only 2,000km, 4th wheel, no damage, never rolled, 144 studs

I pay 45(NYS REG) plus 25(club fee) at home each yr for REG...total per year is 70 usd.Dan how can you pay more in yearly registration fees in NY? It cost me 125 bucks to register both of my sleds in NY. That's 45 bucks for each sled and 35 bucks to join the local club. Please tell me how I can get two Ontario season permits cheaper because if I can then I want two.
Up here the yearly reg used to be 10 per yr, but i think its closer to 25 or 30 cad now. Still far less then 70 usd.
Not sure why you are talking about trail permits, but that is something I MUST buy as I ride here, so that is never gonna change. Paying for NY trail fund was always a mute point for me as I never rode any NY trail.
So as I said, Registration is cheaper to buy/own a sled up here for me yearly.
Dan
