So what’s the consensus on the new updated 2019 clutching. I’ve ordered the update kit for my 2017. I have a precision efi +30hp stock exhaust tune. Are people seeing improvements in bottom end snap and/or belt life?

No snow most places.
The ones that got it haven't been able to put a lot of miles on it yet.

Only about 80 miles on mine so far, I'm running dalton springs right now and i regeared to a 2.04 ratio, running smooth but very strong, just starting to get into it more but runs to 80 mph very quickly at half to three quarter throttle. Looks like storm comeing this weekend so trails should open here and will be able to get some miles on, then will be loading tunes after i get a couple hundred miles on and will be clutching to them , hurricane sm 225, 240,270, can't wait she already rips

I have a 2019 141" 1.75 xtx le. Pure stock. Belt looks like was hit by a grenade 677 miles. Clutches were warm but not hot. I was stuck in the deep with this a half hour before that and I smoked the belt a little along the top of the secondary. Has pretty good bottom but its the first Sidewinder I rode. Almost all of the these miles are trail. None are wot. I havent had the right opportunity to try that  . I am sure there is an improved clutch set up for my winder than what I have.

I ordered the update being it was a good price.....$50... but isn't here yet, back ordered. The helix alone is worth close to $100. I am sure the one you get is the rough cast aluminum like they all have stock, not a nice billet machined one like the aftermarket shops sell. Hopefully it works good enough this season. I just have the one trip planned for a week in the UP. Even if I had the parts I could not ride. This is the worst winter I have seen since the 1987 winter when the under powered Exciter L/C models were brand new.

My dad and i had one of those slow 87 exciters, we won b, a, and double a classes with it in ny, pa and ohio, it sure was quick and we ran as fast as some of the speeds i here the vipers are running now with 130hp and that was low 80's hp back then mid to high 70's in 500ft on grass.

Those guys (dad and uncle) ran the first series PSI twin pipes (the higher RPM) better performing pipes. I had a Phazer at the time with a PSI pipe.

Later on I bought a 1990 and had the rather secret update done to it written up in a Yamaha R&D bulletin. It was ported, the Y-pipe cut, stock exhaust internals modified and some clutching. It really woke up and was a real sleeper but looked stock. Had a couple Exciter II's....(dogs) they were detuned with the ignition thanks to Yamaha. Then my last one was an Exciter II SX. That sled was fast and had all those secret things done from the factory like my 1990 had done plus flat slide carbs. Only 1300 some of those were produced. It had 150lbs of compression per cylinder stock!! Had to run premo fuel. That sled had throttle response like a YZ250 dirt bike!

Sorry......off topic!
