I would say dealerships are feeling the pinch from snowmobile sales, my dealer stop selling sleds altogether focused on SXS and ATV, they can't keep up with the sales, this by far has been a bad winter for snow in this area and many other area's, for being the dead of winter we are getting a rain storm and really mild temps this week, very sad.

The perfect storm of COVID restrictions shutting down trailside services and the lack of snow has really hit snowmobiling hard in Maine. If I don't put any miles on my current sled, I can't get too excited about the 2022 lineup.

The local snowmobile dealers had a banner year for sales, and there are a ton of new sleds and riders, but you can't ride if you don't have snow. The motels, cabins, restaurants, and other services that depend upon winter and snowmobiling to make their money are really hurting. Pittston Farm is well known in my area, and they will normally have hundreds of sleds come through for food and gas on any weekend day. Yesterday (Sunday) my buddy and I arrived at 10:30 in the morning, and we were the only sleds there.

I also think that many dealers had a great year for selling snowmobiles, I know mine did. They ordered 3x as many 146s specifically as they did Yammy models total in recent years. The day I picked mine up, they were lining up a bunch of sleds (all makes) that were going out the door that day. They said their sales were insane, especially given they were closed for a while. When I was calling around to get my quote for the powersurge in the first place, I couldn’t even get some dealerships to call me back, let alone give a quote because they were so busy.

I think the lack of snow is playing a big factor in the mood around here... Never seen a winter like it myself...

Well guys, let’s hope for a snowy February and a cold March! I have only rode 50 miles this year! Will not ride on dirt, I will wait until next year.

I hear ya there... At this point I am just hoping to be able to get my break in done on the 21......... I have gotten 250 miles of pretty good riding in this season but they have been weekdays, and I have had to work for it, jumping in the truck at a moments notice and chasing it...

My first good rumor heard this year. I have no knowledge that it’s true and I don’t care. Just good to hear some talk. What I was told- All new shared chassis by cat and Yamaha. Cat is working on there 862cc upgrade to the 800 Ctec. Yamaha to release a 700cc and 900cc direct injected twin 2 stroke to put in the new chassis. Now they were not sure if it was a shared engine as cats last 900 was a 862cc and just called it a 900 or if they are separate engines. Like I said, Have no idea if it’s true, probably not. Just usual BS passed on from reps but ya never know. Been pretty quiet out there. We will find out the 17th (cat dealer release) and he said Yamaha 18th. Sooooo, if true I’ll be the first in line to spring check two Yamaha 900’s. Man just the sound of that makes me giddy!

That would be something.

This should answer any questions regarding Yamaha's future directions in the two stroke market. Right from the head of the Yamaha North American Snowmobile Product Manager after spending some time at the Yamaha Headquaters in Japan.....
