We put a Hurricane ECU in a Mack this week and it turned it into an actual Mach! The SOB runs really-really good now. Pulls a ton of weight using the UltimaxXS belt and PB-80. We had to add and keep adding weight to the primary. Turned a slow sled into a fast sled. Owner is now damn happy with the sled!
Said he now can't keep the skis down however, just like I figured it would. Typical Doo... Skis now off the ground, see issue I have had with all my Doos when you actually put some power into it. Guess thats a good problem to have when its not powerful enough stock. Now he'll just have to figure a way make it handle with the skis on the ground.

Troy, Its supposed to be 230 HP now with the mid pipe which we also installed. Its makes the sled funner now at at least. Stock its a mutt! Sad excuse for a performance turbo. The Hurricane ECU makes it run and fun for him!

Yeh it’s sad being the buyer pays a premium price for that sled then has to shell out a bunch more to make it run like it should have in the first place. I sure hope Yam/Cat doesn’t get any ideas of locking their ECU down.Troy, Its supposed to be 230 HP now with the mid pipe which we also installed. Its makes the sled funner now at at least. Does the new ECU maintain all the stock features like smart shocks ect?

They all have the same power plant in the 900R. The Mack however is very heavy and will take more HP to overcome that weight. As I recall, the std Renegade or the X is 60 lbs lighter. And the XRS which is usually the heavy one, is still 30 lbs lighter than the Mack.

When Doo realized that they couldn't build enough 900r's to meet the demand it scared the crap out of the bean counters. That's when they decided to back off on the promised 17 lbs of boost for warranty reasons. I guess they would rather be safe than sorry even though it pissed off their Mach faithful.
Maybe they will come out with an updated tune if enough guys keep complaining.

I have the X for a couple of reasons Mike and weight is one of them. I think my X is around 50lbs lighter than the Mach. They all have the same power plant in the 900R. Slightly off subject, wondering what the consensus is on the new Cat clutches how they are performing vs the previous clutches and also in comparison to Yamaha’s clutches on these turbo machines?

Ya that bites for the guys that expected premium performance, been there, have done that.
1997 Yamaha SX, when I bought it on a Spring check, I was told by dealer that it would outrun the then Yamaha King 800 4 cylinder 2 stroke. It was probably the best handling sled on the market on smooth trails, but it fell on its’s face at 85 dreameter and would not run with my buddies 800.
So in comes Olav Aeen with an article in that years SnoTech magazine on how to add some ponies to that red head triple with his pipes and some motor mods. Yep it made a huge difference and that thing rocked afterwards! Thank You Olav, and you know what, to the sales guy at that dealer!

I looked at the X, almost bought one. The X is 524lbs dry weight and the Mach Z is 548lbs dry weight, both with the 900R. The difference is the shock package and associated electronics.

Well in many cases CC’s is king so for someone to say that 700 was gonna beat the VMax 4 800 was full of smoke. Not only was it 100 more CC’s ,but the stock HP difference between the two was a good 20 HP. Three into one triples are a compromise, that third cylinder messes up the exhaust waves in the pipe, triple pipes usually will unlock the power.Ya that bites for the guys that expected premium performance, been there, have done that.
