I recently purchased a 2025 Venom for my 11 year old daughter. This sled will second as my backup in case my primary sled breaks down when she is not with me.
I'm planning to do several things to improve the handling, comfort, and traction with a focus on making it easier for my 70lb daughter to drive. I also want to beef it up so that in the off-chance I need to ride it to save a trip, it's capable of handling a 200 lb rider.
The are a few things I'm planning to have done on initial assembly:
1. Swap out the shocks for something that has multiple pre-sets, like the Fox QS3 or iQS
2. Add Heavy-Duty Rear Suspension Springs so the sled to help it handle a 200 lb rider
3. Swap out the track for a more trail-worthy track with built-in studs
4. Add a 4th wheel kit to increase the reliability and comfort of the sled (Terra Alps or Speedwerx)
5. Swap out the skis for C&A Pro XPT skis with some quality carbides (6" Triple Point Carbides unless better are suggested)
6. Swap the low windshield for something with a bit more wind protection (Mid, Tall, or High?)
7. Add Hand Guards, most likely PowerMadd Sentinel because I can have Mirrors added to the handguards
8. Add Front and Rear bumpers (Looking at Remer’s Renderings offerings unless someone has a better suggestion)
9. Add a skid plate to help protect the sled (Not sure if the Arctic Cat or Yamaha offering is any different or if they are the same, just marketed differently)
I have a 2024 Thundercat and love the Fox iQS Shocks with its ability to change the ride stiffness on the fly. I realize the iQS system isn't cheap and might cost up to 50% of what the Venom costs new, but if you buy once, you cry once. The question is, do they make a QS3 or iQS front and back system that will work in a 121" Venom?
Note that we mainly trail ride in the Midwest and don't plan to do much if any off-trail riding.
My venom is still in the crate so now is the time for me to have this work done, before everything gets assembled, just to pull it all back apart again to install a new track, new shocks, new windshield, and whatnot.
I also plan to add a Garmin Tread 2 GPS but have not figured out the best way to mount it. Any suggestions would be great, pictures of GPS mounts to a Venom would be even better =-)
If anyone has anything else that I should consider that isn't on my list, please don't hesitate to comment.
Thanks in advance for any advice, kind regards,
Tossil
