The motor starts out tight. After the first 100 miles the motor will easily pull 10,500 RPM. The sled is still slower than my 03 RX-1, but my RX-1 picked up quite a bit after 1,500 miles. ( I know this for a fact, because I was losing to a polaris and ski doo, on the same trip in Canada after I hit 1,000 miles we were even, at 1,500 miles I beat em and they wouldnt run anymore.
The sled handles alot better than the RX. I didnt notice any ski lift. The front handles like its on rails. I put the sled through bumps that would have killed me on my RX-1.
My buddy wouldnt run me on his 06 mach Z. He has a racing 1 inch track with no lugs down the middle. ( he said he couldnt hook up with the lake effect, ha, ha)
I FROZE MY FREAKEN HANDS OFF. CALL YAMAHA 1-800-962-7926 IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. When I spoke to the rep he told me that Yamaha lowered the temp because the old grips got too hot

Nice Report good to hear more positive postings. I just turned 400 miles on Sunday and the engine opened up so much I had to change the transfer 4 turns I was pulling the skis a foot with it set dead in the middle every time I launched. Getting through turns was hairy nail the throttle and both skis lift. Too much powers a biotch isn't it.

The book says no PROLONGED rpm over 6,000 then 8,000 after 100 miles. At the snow show the yamaha rep said its ok to wind em up as long as its not extended. I didnt hold it there more than 3-5 seconds. I am more concerned with the rings seating properly.

The Polaris and the Doo probably needed new pistons and rings at 1500 miles.

Shaf i dont think we will have many oil usage problems with the 06 models,as my dealer told me last week that it was our 03 and 04 models that had ring issues, and if i still had my 03 i could get the rings done free of charge, now maybe 2-3 miles full throttle time and time again might push some oil thru, but after 200 miles you will be ok to open it up,as long as you dont hold it to long lol 1/2 miles is fine in my book he he...rip it up i say..Shaf said:10,500 and 200 miles your just asking for trouble, lets hope you dont post a nasty in feb BURNING OIL HELP
