I've tried quite a few different td tunes on the trails to see what kinda fuel economy I could get. I know it will change with the condition; snow, temp, gas quality(91+ octane), lake or trail riding etc. This is what I've found so far.
The stock muffler tunes; eco trail and maxspool 16 both got me anywhere from 15.9mpg on a warm day 0c to 5c and as high as 19.9mpg -28c to 0c.
The performance tunes; max spool17 to maxspool 20 both got me 18-19mpg in all conditions.
I decided to try the maxspool17 lean after tt mike at td. He said if it's warmer conditions I would get better gas mileage with the lean tune.
I cruised on average at 50mph for 105miles on hard pack trails in 2c temps. I had all my performance parts on including my 3" intimidator. When I was riding my a/f gauge read 13.6-14 and the rpm's were 5650-5800. I filled up at the next gas station and I only used 20 litres of gas. WOW! My fuel gauge said I still had between 1/4 -1/3 of a tank left.
Who needs an etec when you can run 290hp, cruise at 50mph and still get 23.6mpg?
I know there's people that don't care about fuel mileage, but when you get to the next gas station and find out they're closed? You'll care.
TD should be selling maxspool17 lean as a package with everything you need. Can you imagine the look on your buddies faces when you fill up your 290hp 4stroke and it takes less fuel than their 160hp 2stroke? Priceless!

MPG are important to me. I find that my stock RTX is thirsty. I topped it off Wednesday night but did not burp the tank. I did a 92 mile loop and my gas light was on when I got back.
I am going to get Max16 someday. If it increases my fuel range that will be an added bonus!

Cruising at part throttle those numbers are not lean, I’d say a tad on the rich side still as you want to be as close to 14.7AFR.Yikes! Are you sure your a/f is reading correctly?

Cool! It's fun to put in 3-4 dollars less on a fillup vs an 850 at the pumps on 290! Luv it.

How was AFR at wot with that tune? Does it put the fuel to it when boost comes on?

Yes fuel is added. Haven't got logs in front of me but are a couple points richer.

when I was running around 30mph the a/f was in mid to high 12's. I didn't run it at WOT though. It's sweet spot was 50-70mph.How was AFR at wot with that tune? Does it put the fuel to it when boost comes on?

I once drove 50 mph.
Then i took it out of reverse cuz it was off the trailer. LOL
Just kidding' boys!
Well i did 15.5 mpg with PowerTrail this week on a "sightseeing" day trip. I was ecstatic to get that.
I'm just glad to know i could go 150ish miles on a tank if i had to...........i hope i never HAVE to because i'd rather jamb a fork in my eye! Less painful.
I average 11 mpg regularly, but i carry 3 extra gallons with me.
To be honest, my suspension works better with the extra weight anyways.
20 mpg on a Beast of a Rocketship! CRAZY!!!!!
I've been saying all along that the tuners should have a program just for CRAZY gas mileage..........................looks like they do
