When changing from a 24 tooth to a 23 tooth gear/ sprocket in the chaincase of an 06 Apex GT do you have to change the chain or tensioner or all you have to change out/ swap is the gear? Any help clearing that up would be greatly appreciated
Thanks JODY

You don't have to change anything but the gear and adjust the tension. Going up to a 40 tooth is actually a little more efficient then going down to a 23 tooth. The chain doesn't have to make as big of a bend around the gears and tensionier adjustment with the 40 as is does when using the 23.
No, the chain is ok, but you have to tighten the tensioner.
A shorter chain would be more efficient, but the stock one will work.

Thanks alot for the feedback )
Another tip JODY. Check with your dealer on how much they would charge to do it. I was going to do mine myself as I enjoy that sort of thing. But my dealer said they would install the 23 gear for $65 including the cost of the gear. That beat the hell out of me freezing my but off for a few hours doing it.
