I put the 4 amp spare in mine...works fine.
I also hardwire my elec shield into this circuit, which means i DO NOT use a 12volt cigg lighter type plug in for elec shield....everyone I know who uses these blows fuses alot.

Bought mine at walmart. I have blown the 3 amp several times with the heated shield so I just started using a 5 amp. No problems since

I am kinda surprised you cant find them at an auto parts store. Many newer cars use the same ones. I know my parts store delivered mine to my door within 5 minutes. If you cant find them, let me know, I can get them and I'll ship them to you at cost.

Ace hardware stores in NH carries them. I would think MA would as well.

I've hardwired to the jumper leads with an inline 3amp fuse and it blew. I also blew the 3amp for the accessory using the adaptar. Seems to have a better chance of blowing if you plug or unplug while the sled is running. If you do what you want to do with the sled off, they might not seem to blow...that's what a buddy told me that blew his a lot a year ago.
A couple weeks ago I put a 5amp in my hardwired connection, and 3 back in the accessory. I haven't used it yet, but I'll only use the hardwired one to see if it blows while the sled is running.

You can buy theses fuses just about anywhere. Walmart, Kmart, convenience store etc. Any autoparts store should have them. Your auto parts store must suck. Anywho...I run a 10 amp fuse int that slot.
Occasionally it has blown because I have my heated sheild wired into it and I have accidently ground the cord out. Other than that, it works great....and has for 3 years.
