I did a long open throtle run, the sled ran anywear from 10,300 to 11,000 RPM's and from 100mph to 127mph on the Dreammeater......

At the halfway mark I stopped because I could smell burning oil like gear oil. I looked did see any leakage and did not find any and carried on for the next 22miles......

Is it normal on long runs to smell the oil???

I run pure synthetic chain case oil in my sled. Not sure if it would make a difference here, but I like the viscosity of it, especially on cold initial runs.

44 miles WOT........man, now that's a pretty long run. Can't say I ever did one that long. Usually run out of real estate by that time..LOL!!

Where did you do that? The trail to Abitibi? I believe that's the run that lead to my chaincase demise.

LB is right. Make sure the level is good. If it gets too hot it will puke out the seal or dipstick. Synthetic all the way. Hyfax must have loved the ride!

My WOT record is 56 miles on the trail Miquelon to Chapais (is exactly 100 miles). At the time I was testing my new temperature gauge and it took 56 miles before overheating!

The guys who broke the world record at Madge Lake Sask did this for 24 hrs straight and on cats to boot.

Was that Ralph and Sylvie Campbell?

They started the record at Madge Lake on A/C 4 strokes. They toasted the secondaries on both of em & had to use F-7,s but they made it. they had a large circular track around the lake & went WFO for just over 12 hours.
