I came across a 27 pulley and found out it should get me to about 8lbs. I currently get about 5lbs and have quickly become bored with that. How much of a difference can you really expect by adding 3 pounds of boost? Is it a seat of the pants difference or simply a sled length or two in the quarter? or should I simply skip the 3lbs and just go to 10 where a difference from 5 would probably be much more noticeable?

You will notice 5 to 8 lb difference but it will not live with 8lbs unless you either run race gas or drop the compression. So with that said, u may as well go to 10 or 12.

mrsled u say 8 pounds will kill her what in your opinion will be max boost lets say 89-93 octane reason id like to know most time i trail ride i can only get low octane gas in the small town thanks

Is your motor stock? Headshim? Pistons and rods? Fuel pump? Intercooler?
There are a few other questions to answer before just turning up the boost.
When you say low octane do you mean 87?

Stock Apex motor can only handle 6lbs with good fuel. I had my stock Apex set up with 8 and blew head gasket.

I put a head shim on and had the ECU remapped to retard timing because finding good gas is usually a problem so I thought I would be safe instead. Running race gas was simply out of the question and never seen boosting it over 12 anyhow. It has a Yamaha approved mountain supercharger installed on a Nytro without an intercooler. At what boost does it make sense to install the intercooler? I've read 10lbs is the limit of the fuel system so I'll probably stay there since I don't' really want to dump another $400 to upgrade for a few lbs of boost. Unless of course 10lbs requires adding an intercooler in which case I should expect more $$$$$$.

100 % stock motor,, stock fuel system,,, 87 octane the lowest we see around here reason y i like to know at the moment im at 26 bottom 28 top gears and goin to put a 27 bottom gear on soon i heard that should put me around 7 pounds
