Does the dealer have to perform to not void your warranty? really don't feel like paying them $200+ for an oil change if I don't have to..............but I have YES extended warranty and don't want any chance of messing that up.

If I am able to service myself, anyone know how to reset the service reminder on the instrument cluster?

After spending all that money on a new sled you would be crazy to not have the dealer do the work they will check out whole sled whats a couple of 100 + $ especially with an extended warranty

Nope they can't void your warranty.just keep bills for the oil and filter

Thanks, that is the info I was looking for. I typically do all my own work on my sleds & have yet to see a dealer do better work than I can do myself. When it's your own you tend to pay attention to all the little things, or if you don't, then you probably should have the dealer work on your sled.

i'd still go to the dealer and buy the oil change kit so that they know you've done your oil change at the 500 mile mark

I'd still have dealer do first oil change to be safe I too do all my own work but the first service let them check it all out same as a new car

The service is only as good as the mechanic....if your competent I'd definately do it yourself.

I as well as many, are very meticulous about maintaining our sleds & prefer to do the work on our own as opposed to letting someone else work on them, & with that being said, I do not think we are "crazy" for doing so, lol!!
Just picked up my Yamaha synthetic oil & filter to do my 500mile first oil change also.

Spend a fraction of that money here on VIP membership and do it yourself. Download the service manual and get some satisfaction in knowing what you are talking about when you actually do have to take it in to get warranty work.

Nothing wrong with going either way, as a good relationship with your dealer is worth something in my book. That being said, "my dealer" dropped Yamaha sleds and I have no reason to utilize them anymore. GRRR.

I agree I do all my repairs but sounds like you guys have had #*$&@ luck with your dealers. Too bad. I have a lot of confidence in my dealer and he is very meticulous

Dealer is awesome for me...I just feel that most repairs you should do yourself ...makes you more knowledgeable and overall more pride in ownership.

No worries we are all in the same boat just trying to help one another with theses sometimes pain in the neck machines. I have 500 + miles on a new xtx that I cant ride because the trails are no good .
