Time to start thinking about the 2009 New York TY ride. Lets post some ideas and get things going. If anyone else wants to take the bull by the horns, and put together the 2009 ride feel free. Maybe we souild think about other starting points besides Montague or Mapledale, although those two places have worked out good in the past. Post your ideas here and lets get this started. I have to start picking my 2009 vacation time soon. Hope everyone had a good summer, but its time to THINK SNOW! Gordon

Gordon,
Welcome back and thanks for getting the ball rolling. I'll definitely be in at least for weekends this year. As I am once again unemployed but hoping it is short lived, I probably won't have much weektime accrued. That being said, I'd love to try for a bagger trip this year and would love to explore the areas east and northeast of previous years, ie: towards Speculator if that is doable.

As far as times, I'd like to throw out a late January, late February rides. Maybe try and make the late February date as the "Bigger" ride. Past years seem to have worked out for the best weather in February.

If the weather gods treat us nice, maybe we will finally get the great riding that stays starting in December for a change. At least I'm real close to riding again instead of 6-7 hours away! :jump:

Speculator area is a great starting point. You can head west and toward Salisbury, or Alder Creek, North Toward Indian Lake and on from there. Maybe we can also get a ride from by Boomers House in Oneonta, There is a gas station down the road from his house, right on the trail with tons of room for parking, and head north on C7-B That is IF we get snow this year down here. We can use our CSS lights!

Gordon, If we get snow in the southern tier this year I'd be willing to take the bull by the horns and host a ride out of Marathon. Mid to late Feb. would probably be best. Could even be a bagger excursion. Just a thought as a alternate starting point. If snow is only on the hill again I'm open to starting any time and any place. What ever works best for the majority.

TY ride

Hey guys I have a place in Sandy creek on Miller Rd we could do a hot dog roast or something there and warm up also .I will be staying there from January 15-march 18 so il have plenty of heat and lots of food , if I can help let me know maybe I can talk the wife into bringin some chili or something up .I also have plenty of parking ,and the trail goes right by the cabin so easy acces . Keep me posted ,thanks.

i am alot more flexible this year- new company after 14 years. Boomer- you moved? Good luck with the new place and good luck on the job search. I am game for a ny ride- as long as you guys don't mind a jersey boy slowing you down.

Hey Jersey boy...bring some White Castles up with you and you got yourself a deal!! ahahah

I am on the ride for sure....saaaame as always!

Would be good to do a ride down by RX1-Man again this year, weather/snow permitting.

Then again.....we have talked about that bagger trip for a few years..starting in Tug Hill or even further south..across the Adirondacks through Cranberry Lake, Tupper Lake areas, etc....and ending up in Lake Clear area...just a thought. All about ideas now.

would like a sack of ten or a suitcase? Rat burgers for everyone when I come up. But if we are doing a bagger there is a snowballs chance in hell that I'll be eating any of those white castles- unless you guys want to stop every 30 minutes. Bagger trip- weekend at the hill whatever is fine with me.
I know the past couple of years southern tug was in great shape and not a lot of traffic. Also some great trails down by lake Oneida and can get to the hill from there if the lake is frozen. Just an idea.
Should I bring some Taylor ham up for breakfast as well ? ;)!

Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese on a roll for me baby!!!..Yea white Castles and a long snowmobile ride dont make for a good match (for the guy behind you anyway..hahaha. I eat enough of them things anyway.....they are in Rockland County too....well within my reach. Good for a once every month so trip to the W.C.

Or we can go with RX1 Man's (with that schnazzy new sled in his avatar. Look out for woodchucks out on the trail though Dave-O) hot dogs and chili trailside? Wait a minute....that dont sound good either. How bout you pack a few Homer Burgers and we can divie them up.....haha.

Whatever the group decides...bagger trip or set off in different directions each day. I vote for staying south of the hill too, starting out anyway.

im in for a ride , r wives aloud to go?

If they like a fast pace, not much time to take in the scenery on the rides I've been involved with!

If we ride down my way the Homer burgers are on me :jump:

I agree with Steve- I am up for either one=bagger or day trips but if we do the hill, especially on a weekend, lets stay south of the hill. Less traffic and more important, less idiots. Gettin all antsy just thinking about riding.
flmcut1- if you wanna have the wife with you I don't have a problem- the more the merrier. I not speaking for anyone but myself but I see no problem- a rider is a rider- male or female :-o

Im in for the Marathon ride IF we get any snow here. If the only snow is on the hill Im up for that 2 keep me posted on dates and time

RX-1 man, If I set too fast of pace on our rides, you can head up a group of people who want to go slower, shorter rides, and view the scenery. I imagine Boomer, Boston RX-1, and the females will join you, LOL. Hope you get some good snow down South this Winter, so I can finally ride down there this season. Look for some snow on Hallowen. BBW
