5th annual 2009 New York TY ride.

Marathon ride

about 10 mins south is Whitney Point there are motels there. You can park ur sled and ride to Marathon in 10mins the trail goes rt through Whitney point. Theres a little more to offer there. I think 2 motels and more resturants and right on the main trail. It sure would be nice to ride close to home. PRAY 4 SNOW

True, you can stay in Whitney Point but the Three Bear Inn in Marathon has quite a few rooms. I've never stayed there but several on this site have and could provide a better insight. Trail goes right past their parking lot, gas across the street. Reservations could probably be made the week before the ride. You can eat at the Inn or at several other places in town that are all within a very short walk of the Inn. We'll see what the weather is looking like at the end of December and if it looks like it will be good around here I'll provide more info.

It ain't no Taj Mahal.... but after a 200 mile ride, a hot shower, a hot meal and a cold beer, and then a place to rest your head, all at very reasonable rates sounds like the ticket to me! Visit link below:

I happen to like the way I look as I'm damn near the spittin' image of my daddy and grand daddy alike! Guess it's in the genes. Only problem I do have is finding helmets that fit right. But, can we direct this post back in line with the topic? If I didn't know better I'd think this was shaping up to be a Geico skit!

:o|

Would be cool to do a ride out of Marathon again, weather permitting. I, myself, can vouch for Three Bears Inn being a decent place to stay. Nothing fancy, but the room rate is great and they have a great little restaurant right there on site. And you can ride right from the motel parking lot to the trail head in the park across the main road.......or right over to RX1-Man's house and he can cook the crew some breakfast or if we had to fix a sled or whatever. Would love to take that ride up to Song Mountain or Skanteateles again. Can ride over to Whitney Point on the way back and have dinner one night at that Italian place, which was pretty good (Aiello's).

Good idea BBW.....lets say this first ride will be out of Marathon, NY (mid-late January), weather pending. And we will make the call one week prior. If conditions dont pan out for Marathon, we will move the ride up to Tug Hill.

Let's not forget about trying to do a bagger trip sometime this winter either..whether be this trip or another.

BTW, Viperman..saw a decent helmet on Ebay..going for about $26 now. Only thing is that has wookie hair all inside of it...lol. 9 bids already though, so better hurry!!!

steve only you would worry about having a place to eat and a place to fix your sled.

I certainly won't be cooking breakfast but the garage is definitely available if a breakdown occurs. Anyone have dates in mind? We looking at a Wed.-Sat. or Thurs.-Sat? I will even ride Sunday if anyone wants to stay an extra day. Steve, for sure we will make it to Aiello's if you want. They offer a lunch buffet which is great!

Don't forget, we need to make it to the Outpost for a "homer burger". Then again, there's always the wiki- waki burger at Rosie's Tuscarora Inn ;)!

I'm definitely on board if we decided to do a bagger out of here. Could probably coordinate stops at TY members houses or camps for breaks.
Gee, I wish we had snow right now as I have this sudden urge to ride.

:4STroke: :yam: :rocks:

OUCH Rattler! Thought us Yamaha folk were good natured..yeeeeeeeesh Hey, guess everybody has their turn in da ol' barrell.

I'm on board for whatever...plus down by Marathon....dont have to keep the ride during the week to avoid Tug Hill weekend warriors. I'm all for weekend riding...less time I have to take off from work.

IF we can do a bagger out of Marathon this time around and weather permits....why not? Whatever the group decides...Start out at 3 Bears one morning...trek off somewhere a distance away....crash that way for the night......ride back to Marathon area the next day in another direction. You'd be more of the details man on the one RX1-Man. All this is weather and snow coverage permitting, of course

Lets stop pussy footing around and get some dates selected. How does Wed. January 28th- Saturday Jan31st sound for our first NY TY ride out of marathon? What does everyone think of those dates? Should be riding Tug hill again by wed. Some good LE snow looks posssible Sun night through Tues. this week.

Pussy footing? Geeeeeeeeeez. Silly me...and I thought all this time we were just discussing as a group and swapping ideas and seeing what works for everybody, and then coming up with a consensus.

Maaaannnn...it is like someone blew an airhorn on the post here or something..hahaha. you either get that reference or ya don't..lol.

Oh yeah......dates are fine by me. Gets us home Saturday night in time for Superbowl Sunday.

We are still living within a democracy, no? Although maybe we should get clearance from Obama and the DNC. If we get their blessing those dates are fine by me. Count me in!
