My two best friends have 02 Polaris XC700's. The talking has already begun. They claim that they have 130 horse and will walk over my RX-1. I have 1 mile on my 05 RX-1 and studded it this last weekend and tested it out on the grass. They had their sleds out trying to make me race them. I didn't have the nerve to do it just for the own good of the sled. I was told not to race until 300 or more miles cause the engine will get better. I punched it for maybe 3 seconds and it seemed like it was all there. Any insite from someone who has raced XC-700's. Last night put the ECP kit on, went pretty good.

I can beat my buddies XC 8 pretty good so I would assume you will have no problems. My suggestion is to let them keep talking smack while you say nothing and let your sled do the talking for you when it's time. I would also wait a few hundred miles, not for proper break in procedure (because of the looser engine) so you have an even faster sled and whip em by that much more :4STroke:

LOL.. The results will be funny... the xc700 were pretty strong sleds out of the box.. but compared to a 05 with ecp kit... Not a chance..

I cant wait to here your reply back with the results!

Did you just put on the ECP air kit or clutching also ? If you just put the air kit on you're missing out on alot of performance that can be had with the right clutching to complement it. I agree with Mighty, let'em talk for awhile then show'em your tailight. Tell them you bought the 4-stroke so they wouldn't have to smell 2-stoke stink when you're out in front of them. :4STroke:

Stock for stock, and studs for studs - they shouldn't beat you.

I used to own an '02 XC 700 SP.

If you want, you could even give them a 1 or 2 second head start and you'll still probably whomp on them. They stop pulling way before you do.

In fact, they'll be right to the bar, engine screaming, ducked way down low, trying to look like they're going really fast...and you'll go right on by with power to spare. And now that you have the Mono RA, you'll be able to hang right with them in the poop too.

The only time I have trouble catching XC's, ZR's, and REV's on hard pack and ice, is when they're studded, and I'm not.

I didn't clutch. With the concerns of losing top end, it makes it sould like I should clutch only and ditch my ECP kit.

The first year I had my RX, I raced my buddy on his XC700 on a lake and spanked him repeatedly. He always got the holeshot because of my crappy track (he was studded) but as soon as I started hooking up I caught him and left him in my snow dust easily.

I am an owner of a 05 Rx1 with 192 studs, no clutch kit, unifilters and dialajets. I lost some top end speed ( 4mph) with studs, changed to 23 tooth top gear gained 5mph. I have a 50 shot of Nos from Holtz engineering have not tried yet. 300 miles on sled, I have raced my buddies 700 mxz which is faster than the 700 polaris he has raced and I beat him by 15 to 20 sled lengths in the 1000ft. Getting 95 on speed check at 1000ft off bottle. LaLaLa

My 03 RX-1 had clutching, handling, studs(192) air box mod, cold air mod and it was no contest.
My 04 warrior has ECP kit and evac. Had the first generation of Hammer time clutch kit but have removed and went back to stock clutching for now. Have geared up one tooth. I am quicker than my 03 was and am 19 - 21 mpg (imperial)
