Noise

Have ridden many multi-cyclinder four stroke and yet this is the loudest of them all. The problem lies not with the exhaust system, but the intake, 50% of the engine noise comes from the intake, meaning the air box, if it is properly insulated you can cut its noise in half. But this creates another problem, do insulate from inside the airbox and adversely affect the air flow, or do you insulate the airbox from the outside. Having worked at Ford's body engineering they investigate every possible harmonics the would interact with other sounds and when they reach a certain harmonics level together you get what we have on our Yamaha's four stroke sleds. I beleive the Yamaha put a priorty on performance and light weight over the harmonics of sound. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL :ORC

I am with Stud dog and big dog, this is a Harmonic combination.
This would be a huge desirable after market FIX product or technique.

These are usually very complex and beyond me.

ANY KNOWN SOLUTIONS? I am doing the ear plugs, then fell like an idiot whenever anyone says something.

i cant imagine the sound being any worse than some of these guys that pipe and can a 2 stroke.

I like the idea of the MP3 player. Seeing how you cant really communicate with the other ppl you ride with unless u have the 2 way communication maybe i'll setup some playlists on my ipod. COme to think of it if i could get it to work it might be pretty cool haha

I have both a communicator and an i pod....this is my 3rd year set up this way and it has nothing to do with the sound of my sleds, i actually love the way they sound.

Be warned, after you ride with tunes you will hate to ride any other way...

I'm ganna give it a shot paul why not. I mean sure your riding in a group usually but when you have on a helmet and what not your kinda isolated from everyone else.

Where do you put the ipod on your belt then run the wire up?

I have a handle bar bag and put it in there. Or in my pocket.
