8BU's seem to work for me

I just wanted to post that a number of people told me that the 8BU's would not hold enough weight.....well, I am running about 10-11psi and was dialed in at about 10,300 rpm's with the 8BU's and two 5gram rivets. This is at about 5000-7000 feet. Just thought I would let you know.

Where did you get the 5 gram rivets, I'm looking at trying these wieghts on the track this summer?

Was told maxxium sold/made these rivets? but heard that they went out of business, is that true. I don't know why people told you the 8bu's don't work. Climbmax was running those weights back in early 03 in his 1st turbo, they held back 14lbs or so in the mountains.

You wanna know a little trick? Take a couple tire weights and melt them down in a old skillet. Find 3 hollow pins about the right inner diameter, drill 3 holes in a 4inch long 2x4 wood block. Pour your melted lead into the block. Take a pair of wirecutters and trim your rivet to the desired weight. I have been doing this since yamaha quit the lead rivets. Yoe should be able to come up with 3 to 8 gram rivets.

weights

Hey done you can get up to 6 gram's I believe from hauck powersports I got some 5.5 gram's from their.

I clicked on, for some reason doesn't work for me. Its okay, don't need them as I am running dalton weights that I can take up to 75 grams with yami rivets. Both with the hauck rivets I could go to 78 grams, ;)! .

They are gone from the Internet. They were a good aftermarket shop, did many purchases from them over the years. Sad if they are gone for good :-(

I have used extra washers under the weight before peening it over for more mass & also used any nut & bolt that fits in the hole & clears thhe spider. It is very easy to add 8-9 grams to each hole in the 8bu weight with out clearence problems. Get creative...there is a lot of stuff that works besides rivets.

8BU's

This is what I have been running for years now
8BU -00 fully loaded with 45X2.0 rate. 51 straight cut and silver spring

I have ran over 30lbs boost and pulling 10,600 RPM @ 7000' - 10000'

I use the 6mm washer trick also, each washer add's .8 grams. Be sure to check for the outer diameter of the washer, for sticking above the weight profile though. If it does, some light filing on the edge of the washer will do the trick.
