Gents, Just took delivery of a new to me 2014 Viper. It currently has a badly worn 8jp belt, and as a spare he had an 8gs belt which I think is for the phazer. My question is, I am planning on going with the 8dn ,but I know we need to shim the secondary, can someone provide me with the shim part numbers and qty that I need?

I see some are just using a regular washer, but I would prefer to use the correct thickness if possible.

Secondary is more than likely already shimmed for 8jp, you will need 3 more of the same thickness shims to run 8dn, your yamaha dealer should have those, if not have him order them, i believe theres 2 thickness size, order both as they are cheap, you never know which ones you'll need, mine already had the thicker one's, i just added another set of the same thickness, when properly shimmed your belt should be a 1/6 -1/8 above the top of the secondary sheave.

Or skip the shim and get a belt adjuster from Thunder Products or others who have the same type. Make it way easier to set belt deflection without taking the secondary off and adding or removing washers...

Also super easy to take the belt off as well. I always had trouble getting my fat hands in there with the belt cover. That problem is now well in the rearview mirror.
