Hey guys, this is my first post over here. I spent most my time on Dootalk and HCS since I am Doo rider. Anyway I am looking for some help. My buddy bought an RX-1 and I had a couple of questions. It is his first sled and I have never had a 4 stoke sled but I would like to do a couple of things for him. First, how tall of a bar riser can I put on there without adjusting cables? Second, the studs, what is best for minimal studding and does it need tunnel protectors? He is an easy rider and just looking for the added safety. I believe it has an 1 1/4 ripsaw track. Lastly, I would like to change the engine oil and chaincase oil for him. Any pointers on those proceedures?

Thanks

Welcome. ;)!

2-1/2" risers with stock cables. Might be able to get 3" if they are pivoting forward style?? But my cables were tight.

Tunnel protectors are stock.

1-3/4 studs would be the max I go on the 1-1/4 track. Running the track tight. With 3/4 tunnel protectors that is only leaving you 1/4" clearance. And you can flex the track that much if its loose. And tag the coolers. Some guys say 1.4 max, but I go longer without issues.

Good luck! Familyman

Chain case oil is a breeze, there is a plug on teh inside of the tunnel on the mag side just remove and drain, then add through the dip stick hole. If you adjust the tension just go to finger tight and back it off about 1/4 turn from there and secure the lock nut.

Oil has two drain plugs one underneath the sled, there is a inspection cover that has to be removed with I think a 5mm allen head, then the drain bolt which is also a allen head I think 6mm (cant remember)

The in the oil tank on the mag side there is a plug, drain both. Replace and fill.

While your draining the tank on the bottom there are two allen screws holding the 90 degree nipple on, remove those and drop the fitting out, there is a long screen attached to hit, mine had 3300 miles on it and was crudy! clean it and replace before adding oil.
