What about the noise (howling) issue doesnt look they did anything to change that.

I was lucky enough to experience the new 06 wheels for a little while last year. They seem to cut the sound down by about an annoyance factor of 2. Also some of the "noise harshness" or clattering of the clips on the slides was improved too.
It will be interesting to see how many complaints there are of track noise in 06.
After riding for a while with the 06 wheels I started to think the track was very noisey again - then I went back to the 05 wheels and THAT was noisy.

My dealer was told that the spring and damping rates are approximately 25% stiffer on the ER this year, and even stiffer on the RTX. That's about the only complaint I had with my 05, too soft. Keep in mind that the Snow Goer is talking about prototypes they tested last spring too.

Looks like Yamaha really did their homework and has fixed a lot of the problems (if not all of them) that the '05 Monoshock had.
