just looking at possibly installing a XTX rear suspension in my 08 Ltx. Will it be a good upgrade and is it pretty easy to do? Or upgrading to a newer style apex the way to go? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Some guys like them and some not so much. If you can find a Nytro XTX skid, I think the valving is better it those then in the new Apex XTX skids.

up grade for sure there is so much more to the newer sleds get an xtx the ps and the increased hp and response is well worth it but for sure the tipped up rails are the way to go as far as i am concerned.

Now on to the single shot & will demo this season. The 136 mono is plush compared to my 144 xtx. Stock XTX is a banger suspension if that is what you want go for it but I miss my mono & probably why Yamaha is on to the 146 single shot now..... Time will tell.

XTX with the Star kit is plush and though it is not as stiff as stock it still handles the rough quite well.
The new singleshot should be plush, a 136 singleshot might be perfect, but I still can't wrap my head around a 146 sneaker on the snow. I know the difference between a 121 and a 136 can be felt, now push out to 146 and still claim it corners on rails leaves me in disbelief.

Next logical improvement to my 2012 Apex XTX would be the Star.... but IDK.... I will have to see comments on combination of aggressive snowtrackers & Star Suspension? I know guys like the Star but not sure how it works with front end carbide selection? To me everything has to work well together & snow trackers do work well with stock XTX rear suspension.XTX with the Star kit is plush and though it is not as stiff as stock it still handles the rough quite well.

Really wanted to do that mod to my 07 RTX but at the time gave up on finding a xtx skid that was worth buying. Then there was the "other things"involved in doing the mod (tunnel ext, rear cooler ect). I know of couple of guys that have done it and dont regret it if attention to detail is taken.I put a new M-10 air on mine and have been very happy once understood how to dial one in.... I will say the XTX conversion I rode was a nice a improvement.

I have the 141 Viper handles nicer than my 136 Vector - I know big chassis change- but I am less scared of track length than I used to be as I think the front suspensions and center of balance have come so far on the new sleds. Hope to get a chance to ride the new viper 146 and see.
My 144 Venture GT has more push to it but hey it is set up as a two up not a handling machine...........I love that sled for group cruising long rides.

Big difference between a Viper and a Vector. More the same a Venture and an Apex 146. Not scared of track length as I loved my 136, but it pushed more then a short track and more then my 144 tipped rail. Very curious what the 146 will be like.

Always having a great retired day Mark. You got to try it! Love my XTX now with the Star Kit, 146 single shot sparks my curiosity but if I trade up it will be years down the road.
