advise on rear shock for 06 gt

I'm not sure on how the EC works once it's removed from the sled but if you had the rebound dampening set to high before you removed it from the sled this may be why you are seeing the difference in the action.

Regardless if you have not already had the shocks rebuilt and revalved I would just do it and not worry about it. Once you get them done you will likely be supprised at the improvement.

This could be normal, remember here is both compression and rebound dampening on these shocks.
Hopefully someone who knows these shocks inside and out can chime in.

Yamadoo

I am seeing mixed feedback on the rear shock issue. I called my dealer today and they said i need a heavier spring. I told them i way about 180 lbs without my gear on. I have about 1400 miles on my GT. Do i need the shock rebuilt and revalved? Does yamaha do this? Do i need a heavier spring? Do i need both done? need some clear feedback. Thanks

If you have the stock spring and its set at the max spec.. and you are still having bottomoing issues, than you need the 5.5 spring available threw your dealer..

revalving helps more for the heavier riders..
