Well...I made the big switch this year coming from a 2006 ski doo mach zx to a 2009 Nytro RTX SE with fox evol front shocks.
This may be a stupid question but when you install a trail tank does the fuel guage remain accurate?
Any other suggestions on what I should do to this sled?

it still seems to be pretty accurate, I got the clear tank so I could see for myself, but the gauge seems to be pretty close. You will probably not have to worry about it though since you'll be one of the last people to run out of gas.

Mine was totally messed up. I ran dry with three bars still showing. I tried to bend the arm down to compensate a bit but have not got to retest it yet.

not sure if this was your cause..
but if you run the gen 2 tank on a 09 this is whats supposed to happen...
the gen 2 would be a direct bolt in on a 08 but require minor mods on a 09 as described...
my question is the original question...has anyone had this problem with the latest tank on a 09????

I'm not sure what gen my tank was but I have a feeling it was a gen 1 tank and it is on an 08 RTX.
It is not a big deal. I generally don't trust gas gauges and go with the odometer but on days when there is a lot of powder of course even that goes out the window. If I had my time back I would have got the clear tank.

I bent the arm a little to make sure it read correctly when near empty. The display reacts slowly to the sensor change so it take a little playing to get it right. With the trail tank installed it takes a while for the indicator to drop off of full but that's not all that important. I was more concerned about how many gallons I had when the low fuel light came on. After the install it took a couple of tanks of gas to figure out how accurate it was.
I was more concerned about how many gallons were actually usable in the tank which I have not actually determined myself. I started a post last season discussing this topic. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=

When adjusting the float arm it goes much faster if you cycle the key with each adjustment. The fuel gauge responds very slow but if you cycle the key the level changes right away. I just bought a new tank because I wasnt happy with the fit and finish of the one I had purchased last year. This tank is much better and the float arm worked correctly. I did tweak it slightly so I would have more gas when my light did come on. I have a little over 2 gallons when my light comes on which would work for me.

I bought the clear tank. My plan is to mark off each gallon with a permanent marker when I first fill the tank. Even with doing this it still would be nice to have a somewhat accurate fuel gauge. I guess coming from ski doo i'm used to fuel gauges that don't work!

I installed my clear tank back in the spring of '08. My fuel gauge is really off. I'm sure I bent the float bracket while fishing it into the tank. I is a bit annoying but since the tank is clear it doesn't bother me that much.

I have found that the entire capacity is usable due to the pad like attachment on the fuel pump. If you slosh the sled around (bumps or swerving back and forth on the trail) you can get all the fuel out of it. I ran it dry. It helps if you are going up hill towards the last few ounces.
