Has anyone taken the airbox apart? Is there a filter in there? I noticed in parts diagram no airhorns shown. Is that true. I had it out but didnt take it apart. Wish I would have. Any pics?

There is "velocity stacks" but they are not like on the previous FX Nytro motor. There is no filter inside the box at all, it is just the frogzskin material on the opening is the only filter. I have several of them drilled full of holes, I will see if I can snap a pic of the inside.

I should say the "velocity stacks" do not have a bell on them like the previous FX Nytro models did. It is simply a rubber insert slipped into the air box to connect to the throttle bodies, there is no "bell" on the end of them like the FX Nytro.

Thanks! I didnt think so. Thats odd no bell. Is there a metal screen of some sort? No hope for stock airbox I assume based on your filter mod? Is it loud with those filters on?

had mine apart last night to clean the oil from a roll over. no filter other than the frog skin over the actual intake opening, which is only about 2.5" x 4" there is a baffle at the top where all the takeoff are.

I thought that the vent mechanism on the Viper stopped the oil drain out when on its side? That doesn't work?

It reduces it but does not eliminate it. It is a catch pan really. The fourstroke solutions ROV is still required if you spend lots of time upside down.

the air box catches the oil but it leaks out between the seams and out the bottom where there are drain holes.
