BTW i paid $8500 for ZRT-800 in '95 & $8800 for Apex in '06. No inflation at all. It's 2017 & double that price so yes, major price increase
Well I bought a 2015 Viper XTX SE last year for $9,200.00 compared to the $8,800 I paid for an RX-1 in 2002 and the $9,200 I paid for an 07 attack GT I think is pretty stable for 9 years later. Even at sticker price that sled is well below the correction for inflation over the past 13 years. The kicker is you paid $8500 for a ZRT in 1995 which was 21 yrs ago do the math on that inflation rate to a $13,000 dollar sled in today dollars.

was told by someone from Yamaha a 2 smoke in new chassis is built, waiting for it to pass emissions. said it got less then the 4 strokes. I can't see them going back 2 stroke but who knows
For a few years Cat has been rumoured to have been working on an 800-850 DI version of their 600 DI that has been out a couple years. Not sure if that would be a crossover motor to both brands or not. Yamaha doesn't seem interested in going back to 2 stroke even thou I'm sure they could if they wanted.

yamaha has had some of the best DI tech in outboard motors for years so it would be no shocker to me is they developed a motor using yamaha's DI tech

If they intended to stay in the 2s sled market I don't think they would have left. They have the tech to be in it all along if they wanted to.

Stock gearing it can get close to 110, but with different gearing it has all the power needed to get in the 115 range. A true bone stock 800 is only going to go in the 100-105 mph range, they just have the weight and hp advantage which gives them great mid range pull. I'd be very surprised if Yamaha released a 2 stroke, but I'm sure it's possible, if it's an affordable sled that's can be bought for $8000 and is a smaller fun sled i think they'd have a serious winner! With the exception of the outdated Phazer the next cheapest yammi is like 12 grand, the big 4 all need to have more affordable packages on sleds.
Stock 800 doo does 115MPH stock 600 doo does 105MPH plus....I've ridden both and have seen those speeds on speedo as well as 800 doo going by me on my Apex at 110 MPH. Have video to prove it.

Be nice if the viper could do that stock or with a clutch kit, I am more interested in mine pulling hard up to a 100, also not looking to blow on a straw in a wheelchair to go left or right.Stock 800 doo does 115MPH stock 600 doo does 105MPH plus....I've ridden both and have seen those speeds on speedo as well as 800 doo going by me on my Apex at 110 MPH. I agree I feel not being able to go more than 105 I'd be disappointed. Don't do that all day but the times I do that speed I'll miss it.

If Yamaha made anotehr 2 stroke I would be interested. But a more affordable sled I agree. $17000 Canadian for an Artic Cat 1056cc turbo is a lot better than $20000 for a viper turbo.

True, but I rode my cousin's cat crosstour turbo and I hated it, the power seemed to come on uncontrollably, even he said that he liked how my viper's ride, handling, and power curve, but just lacking some top end.If Yamaha made anotehr 2 stroke I would be interested. The difference is, he will go through a motor by the time yours is fully broke in

May be a bit of an exaggeration, but they are trying to compete with 4strokes on oil and efficiency. This means they run too little oil and a bit too lean.

That's funny about them. This is my buddies and it was a leftover 2014 800 with 600 miles on it. My speedometer is within 1 mph of GPS at 100 mph and he could not keep up on long lake runs and I was only going 104. There was another guy with us running that 2015 X-RS package 800 and it was even slower but it only had about 120 miles on it. My Polaris Pro S 800 out ran both of them 5 or 6 times. I have video but it is useless because they are so far behind that they don't re appear until 45 seconds after I stop on a 3 mile burn, because they don't handle the tight twisties as well as the Viper

Well the viper is a 600 class sled with a heavier 4 stroke 3 cylinder compared to the 2 cylinder 2 stroke Doo, We are still quite a bit heavier wet. It has been documented many times on here that a true (gps or radar) 105 is do-able with a bit of clutching and belt change to 8 dn
