You know how the reverse can stick sometimes and you really should give the throttle a little blip, I was in a rush and pulled down hard on the reverse lever and broke it off...

It ain't cheap either...$40 Canadian...

I'm starting to think I bought another Toyota LOL...

Let this serve as a suggestion to all the accessory makers out there...A billet shift knob would make a great accessory...I'll take 1 ASAP.

Boy, I would think you should be able to get that warrantied if your dealer is any good.

We'll see...I'll keep you posted. In the mean time I'm looking for alternatives to the plastic knob. The shaft of the part could be threaded and you could screw anything on to the end of it. It would be great if I could find a shift knob in aluminum of a similar shape.

Hoping they will warranty it...but I doubt it. My dealer is not known for its ease of warrantying.

couple guys on snowest complaining of this too. gotta tell the dealer and get these documented. they could update them for the masses. ski

Is this issue related to why 9 times out of 10 when I try to throw mine in reverse I have to rock the sled back and forth to get it to pop in? Going back to forward is always smooth though???

My cousin hopped on my snowmobile and broke my reverse knob off before I even left the dealership right infront of my salesman, they took it in, and took a knob off of a showfloor model and fixed me up asap...

Cant say why it snapped because I didnt do it or see it myself, he just held it up and i was like WTF

my guess is perhaps some bad molding.

but also its a weak piece imo.

also sometimes it just doesn't want to go into reverse.. personally when that happens i drive forward an inch and try again, always works, its just cause the gears arent meshed up right.

my cousins phazer is push button and it doesnt go in always either, he has to rock his sled or pull forward also.

If you find a billet knob or something, let me know, haha, you could always do something yourself for it, i think it just threads on? meaning you can rig something metal if you want i suppose, but maybe its good it snaps, better than making something else further in break.

If it doesnt want to go into reverse just drive forward like you said and it will usually go.

Another thing to watch out for is coming out of reverse and putting it back into drive the latch doesnt always want to go in without a little bit of force.

I examined the piece a little more last night and there are no threads on it. The part consists of a rod with a hole in one end that gets locked in by a pin with the circlip on each end. The other end is the plastic piece that is molded to the rod.

I think you could easily thread the end of the rod and put something on the end. It would be cool to make a billet handle.

I think if someone was crafty they could easily make one up.

I tell you what would look cool, a mini pull cord handle. You could say to all your two stroke buddies

"look my sled has an antiquated pull cord too...(but not really)."

I've noticed my sled is often tempramental about going into reverse. I usually have to rock it back and forth for it to engage. I've never had reverse so I don't know if this is normal or not? I do like having reverse!

First 5 seconds on the sled and the reverse handle broke off. Was a very cold night! Dealer is going to fix under warrant.

Mine broke too. First ride off the trailer and I wasn't even pulling hard on the lever. The thing I found is that if you are on any kind of incline its harder to put into reverse.

After it broke, I tore it apart, threaded the metal post and made an aluminum handle. Its sweet!!!
