Another front end out of whack?sub frame?spindles?a-arms?

Unchained. I had the same problem last night. I had my sled up to move the rubbers under the spindles and when I put it down I noticed that the left side spring is closes to the A-arm than the right side, and the spindle is more vertical than the right side. Like you I have not hot anything significant, other than some jumps, which better not be an issue. I never had time to measure but it looks like the left side ski is very slightly back from the right side, less than a inch. Any one else experience this? I am confused????

i would have to agree if you cant jump with this sled its gonna be history. i would have to sell mine

For the average to even aggressive rider there is NOT a problem with the front end!

BUT!
Just like the Revs nun (I only use that because I am familure with it) WHEN the sled hits something that it shouldn't hit OR really big, very hard pounding then yes it'll show some 'deflection'.

Do I think Yamaha is going to OR should they fix everyones sled IF we bend them... NO I do not!
I think IF these sleds are driven as they were designed and we don't hit/catch anything they will last. I have been extremely hard on my sled and even wrecked it once. I was in less than 4" of fresh snow over frozen ground (read VERY hard surface) and I barely have any deflection and it happens to be on the same side that impacted the ground while flipping @ 35 mph!

No they are NOT INDUSTRUCTABLE!

For those that don't know our sleds are being set up for a 2000 miles cross country race where not only can we not afford to bend things there are NO Yamaha shops to go get parts IF we were to hit something along the way! Attrition takes out 50% of the teams every year! Most of the time it's because the racers hit something. Our sleds are being set up to withstand an impact slightly better than a stock sled. There are no real secrets under there! We just don't care to expose what we have learned about these sleds or our set up to any of our competitors! Those that have seen different stages of our sleds please wait until Feb 10 and them post away... Until then please keep the pics to yourselves!
Thanks!
Im still not sure if what Im seeing is an illusion but I will say I have not even come close to riding it in any way that would do ANY type of front end damage. I know everyones pissy about wanting to see pics and CSI evidence of the other known bent front ends, but Im absolutley sure I would have nothing to ever drive back to and snap if this is the case. Tomorrow I will pull some plastic and do some serious measuring before I panic and possibly blow this issue out of proportion.

I was jumping about foot or two in the air then I hot about a 6 inch rock at 10-15mph and my front end seems to be fine.

You guys have got to be hitting things or catching rocks with the skags(which would bend a nun). My MTX has seen 25 ft. cornice drops, 50 ft. + jumps (with hard landings), I've rolled it, crashed it, ect. and it's holding up fine. I can't believe the front ends are " just bending" from small impacts.

For the past two weeks I've been pretty much obsessing over this whole front end thing. Finally today, after talking and emailing several people who are involved in racing (one of whom works for Yamaha) and ride as hard or harder than I do the jist of their comments was this:

The front end is fine as long as you don't actually hit something (an obstacle), or overrun the chassis with too soft of front suspension and bottom out constantly which will result it part failure.

This to me doesn't sound like any type of design flaw, instead the issues are more from either poor set-up and rider abuse or (primarily) rider error and hitting an obstacle.

I am around 260 and over and have jumped this sled with no problems. Where I ride the groomers are probably 3-4 hours away. I have ran this through trappers trail which are beat to @#$$## and had no issues. I think it is setup and rider ability, are the reasons people are having issues. Oh ya 08NitroRTX I pm you. Need some assistance.

I wonder how many of the guys that have bent something are running big aggressive carbides? Or Fox Floats with 50 lbs or less air in them? Makes perfect sense when you guys speak of rider setup....

I'm running 45# with no issues! I would think a softer set-up (not too soft) would absorb or even soften the blow!!!

Stock 4 inchers for first 700 miles and now 6" Shapers on stock skis so I wouldnt lean towards that theory at least in my case.....

When did you go to 45#?
Listen Abe! When we came up to Gaylord for the day!! Remember?? The road with no snow, overheat light came on, so we decided to bust out the pump and set my front shocks to 45#!!!!!
